My ring is white gold, halo, natural blue topaz center stone, and diamonds on both the band and the halo. I do not have any issues with that. And i am one who would be concerned with a detail like that lol so don’t feel bad. I can say that I really do not think about it though. I love it. I don’t think its a bad idea, I have not been bothered by having a colored stone instead of a clear one. here is my ring ๐Ÿ™‚

@flutterbee:  thank you! I know its not a three stone ring like the ones you are looking at but I thought I would post anyway since mine is a colored stone. I have no regrets about choosing this ring.

My feeling is that a gorgeous gemstone goes with everything.  I’ve got an emerald and no regrets.  I wear yellow gold jewelry, so I opted for a ring with a yellow gold setting.  Never felt it really clashed with anything.

My ring has a brilliant red garnet – I don’t think twice about whether it matches what I’m wearing. I don’t typically wear nail polish so that’s not a problem for me, but I still wear all my regular clothes and it looks great.

ETA- Despite having and loving a coloured stone ring, I voted for solitaire in rose gold – it’s so pretty, and I’m not a huge fan, personally, of three stone rings. I don’t think you’d go wrong either way.

I have a sapphire center stone in white gold. I feel that it goes with any outfit and nail color.

You have some great inspiration started! I think down the line I might get a RHR in rose gold, just for an excuse to have one.

    Here’s mine ๐Ÿ™‚

Yea sometimes it doesn’t “go” exactly. I tend to wear alot of jewel tone clothes though, so it doesn’t look terrible. I’ve been engaged for 7 months now, and it doesn’t bother me if my sapphire doesn’t match. I did try to match my ring a little at first, but I don’t do that now. I love my ring so much, I could care less!

Nail polish though – I tend to wear a lot of greig-y colors. So the greys looks fine, I’ve never been one for really bright colors either. Some bright colors coordinate fine with it.

I don’t have my engagement ring yet (still shopping around for that), but I plan on putting either a peach or padparadscha sapphire as the center stone.

So here’s a picture of my “promise ring” that my fiance gave me about 3 years ago – it’s 10k white gold w/ a marquise sapphire. It has held up so incredibly well – I’ve gotten it re-rhodium’d once and get it cleaned fairly often. Even though it’s a blue stone, I mix and match other colours of stones and gold w/ it and I’ve never really had much of a problem. Nor with the colour of my outfits. I absolutely love coloured stones, they definitely are a conversation starter.

I LOVE my sapphire ring and I actually have a cheaper replica that my fiance gave me 5 years ago, but it’s sterling silver and I grew out of it (I was 15), so he found me this one. Since they look almost identical, I plan on giving them to my future daughter(s) when they’re older. Or my future son for a promise ring to his girlfriend. (Lol, I’ve been planning ahead)

I have blue sapphire side stones in my ring…I don’t give it a second thought.  Compared to the rest of your outfit, even a sizeable ring is a very small percentage.
