I am having a vintage themed wedding, and my bridesmaids will be wearing 4 different pastel coloured dresses. dusty pink, lilac, pale yellow and purple….all the colours of my favorite flowers….sweet peas.
so today i bought silk sweet peas to go into the birdcages for the centrepieces…..and apart from the yellow ones which i am going to get at a later date, i got all the same colour sweet peas as my bridesmaids dresses.
But i had already bought the 4 girls ivory silk rose bouquets, and i myself entwined crystals inbetween the flowers…..they turned out very pretty.
But I am sitting here now thinking……and maybe you can help me in making up my mind.
would it look better to fill the birdcages with the multi coloured sweet peas, matching the bridesmaids dress colours, and let the girls carry the ivory roses,
fill the birdcages with the roses…..(and maybe dye them pastel colours) and let the girls carry the multi coloured sweet peas…..i would also add babys breath to them too…..

I like the idea of them carrying the white flowers. Since they have different colored dresses, it might be too much color if you give them mixed color flowers. I think it will look really classy, clean, and chic if you do the white. Just use your others in your pretty birdcages.

Thank you, thats actually what i thought when i first bought the roses, because they were wearing different coloured dresses, the one thing they had that matched was there flowers. their flowers dont match mine, cos i have made a brooch bouquet.
thanks for the advice, and i actually DO think i will take it, i just needed just one person to say what iwas thinking myself…..LOL
i also have some silk ivy to wrap around the bars of the cages too, and some pearls…..the pearls i bought today …..6 strands for £6…..and this is my inspiration picture, and why i wanted pearls.

I like the idea of them carrying the roses and fill the birdcages with the pastel sweet peas. The roses will add some continuity to the overall look since they have different colored dresses. And the different colored sweet peas will look pretty and cheerful in the birdcages. Not to mention, its less work for you since you have the rose bouquet’s done and wouldn’t need to dye them for the birdcages!

i agree with the pp that the white in the bm’s bouquets will give them some continuity. also the sweet peas in the centerpieces will carry your colors throughout the decor better than having the roses in them

@yellowlace: Yup, I have to agree with this.
You don’t want toooo much color and you’ll want something to pull it together. The white roses and your gown will help pull together the female-side of things. I’m guessing that the guys will also have white somewhere to help pull it together (I’d suggest the bouts).
Different is good, but even in a garden, despite the plethora of blooming flowers, you still have green and brown (leaves and dirt/ground) to pull it all together.
Also, the variety of color on the table will help brighten up and add color to an otherwise monochromatic color scheme. 🙂

yup, and also the multicoloured sweetpeas will look amazing in the cream birdcages, sitting on cream tablecloths too!
