I know a lot of ladies have the same issue, Birth control can lower your sex drive. I hate it! I’ve been on it for 7 years, since I was 17. I only recently got off of it, only been off for a few weeks. But I’m going back on it with my next cycle. The only reason I quit taking it is because we moved and the movers boxed my pills up, so I didn’t have them for a bit. But I know my hubbs would be a lot happier if we had sex more often, I just almost never feel like it. I’ve never been one to initiate much either, but I wanna work on this.
Any other ladies with this problem? tips? Sorry if it’s TMI!

Yes, I definitely have decreased sex drive when taking BCPs, not to mention pretty bad vaginal dryness. I quit taking them because of these reasons and a whole bunch of other side effects.
Only other advice to you would be to maybe try a different brand (this seems to work for some people), or try a different method of BC. Although none are quite as reassuring as the pill, and if you have a decreased sex drive on the pill, probably wouldn’t be much different using the ring, IUD, etc. Might be worth a shot though! I feel like I have tried and hated almost every type of birth control (pill, NuvaRing, Mirena IUD, DepoProvera shot).
Being a woman sucks. Let’s create a birth control pill for guys and see how THEY like their hormones being all messed up!

so your drive decreased when you stopped taking the pills or when you started up again?

@cowgirlace: Really I’m just hoping to come off of them soon. I hate to think about what they could be doing to my body :-
@Overjoyed: It’s been decreased since I started taking them 7 years ago
