Since the cold dry air has started, I have started getting a combination skin with blackheads – this has never been a problem for me before. Normally, I really don’t need facewash (BAD I know).
I can’t use St. Ives – every time I do, I break out. And I would prefer to spend under $25 for a new routine.
Can anyone recommend a new routine?

I use Olay for sensitive skin for a wash. It looks like liquid hand soap. I get my face wet with warm water, lather it in my hands, and I’m very gentle. When I’m not gentle, it seems to make my skin worse.
Then I use Aveda moisturizing lotion. It is all natural and REALLY nice on my skin.
I also use a soft scrub (sugar, apricot, etc.) on my face every once in a while. It really helps with all the blackheads on my nose and chin. Unfortunately, I can’t get them to go completely away. 🙁 But a few professional facials a year really help. Just let them know you want extractions.

My skin is very sensitive and can’t tolerate anything with salicylic acid. I pretty much use the entire Alpha Hydrox line, especially the Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash. It is relatively cheap and works great for me. You should be able to get it at drugstore.com or amazon.

I use Body Shop’s Seaweed Cleaser and toner. You should also add a really good moisturizer. The Seaweed one is fine, but I prefer Clinique moisture surge. Moisture is different than oil, so even though your skin produces oil, its likely it will become dehydrated from the cold and/or you starting to use facewash.
ETA: there is nothing wrong with not needing facewash. Most of us overtreat our skin and cause all sorts of problems we then need other products to compensate for. You should cleanse only at night and moisturize both evening and morning.

I had great results with 2 products (not necessarily used at the same time): Neutrogena Stress Control Acne lotion 3 in 1 treatment, and also Bare Minerals Skin Rev-er Upper. Both are gentle enough to not irriate my skin but also cleared up stubborn blackheads I had struggled against for years.
You can look up product reviews on paulaschoice.com to get good information about what works and what doesn’t.
p.s. I wonder if the oil in your skin has increased in response to dryness? A moisturizer may reduce the oiliness
