My girlfriend got married in August 2011, and another friend in June and did this.  I think it’s a super cute (and smart!) idea.

Eh.. I don’t know how I feel about this.  I think the above sample looks nice, but I think I’m on the fence about it.

My cousin did it. They had a cute photo post card that said season’s greetings and save the date– pretty similar to the one posted above. They included their room block info, too. It was perfectly nice.

I did something slightly similar, but not nearly as formal.  Since I did not want to have to finalize my guest list that far in advance, but I wanted to let my friends and extended family know that I had met someone and engaged, I actually drafted a dreaded “Christmas letter” that year.

The letter included a picture of my Fiance and me, along with the story of how we met and the comment that we were getting married in May of the coming year.

For those I knew for certain we would be inviting to the wedding, I added a little handwritten note in the card, saying something along the lines of, “Our wedding is May 22. We’ll be sending you an invitation in the coming months. I hope you’ll be able to join us!”

We got one last Christmas for a couple getting married this October. I thought it was very cute!

We have friends that did it… only thing was I like to keep Save-The-Date Cards on the fridge until the wedding…. and this one was Christmas-y so I didn’t keep it up past the new year!

What about just sending Christmas Cards with your STD inside the card to save on postage?

I’m not sure about combining the 2, personally. I made save-the-dates separately, and put them inside our Christmas cards, though.

I would take Christmas-y or just winter themed engagment photos. I think sending something like this out would tie both Christmas and the wedding together. There’s a lot of ideas of pinterest. I like these:
