I think the concept is a good one if it makes sense.  Brody is a cute name so its not so bad.

Well my sister’s thrid child was a girl, and I was trying to get her to name her daughter after me, christina, and my other sister was really trying to get her name her after her, Silveria, so my oldest sister improvised and did a cross over, Syleena. Spelled differently, but sounds like what it would be if you were to mix both names. I LOVE IT. The name itself isn’t too common, all three of us sisters LOVED the movie, “Selena” growing up, and it just suits her so well! If my SO and I were to do that it, the best we could come up with would have been Lorina. haha, I’m not a huge fan. But sometimes I’m sure it can work. I’m definitely not opposed, unless its just really wacky, then maybe just choose something more suitable.

@Rgeddy: My HS sweetheart’s name was Tobin! Well, it was his last name, but we all called him Tobin. I think it’s a good name!

Ours would be.. Scophanie (oh geez).. or Stet.. or Scotanie.. yikes. No go.

I think most people try it out as a joke but very few actually name their child a combo of names.  When my sister was pregnant we joked about naming her kid a combo of Minh and Emanuel = Minuelle.  those are our father and her FIL’s first names.

That reminds me that I did have a student last semester named Ernestanie. Yes Ernest and Stephanie did this to their child. It was kind of a tongue twister for me for some reason.

We have considered doign this for our future child, but most likely as a middle name. Not with our names, cause it totally wouldn’t work but with our mother’s name. His mum is Janet and my mum is Cindy so we came up with Jancin. It is an actual name (Janson) but with the spelling to fit my mum’s name in it. It would be for a boy since I think it is more masculine. So I agree that sometimes, though I am sure not all that often, that this can work. But man, I can just imagine that ridiculous names that come out of it!

I wouldn’t just because there’s no cool way to combine our names.

Oh my, some of these name combos are hilarious! Our names wouldn’t work either… Erole? Nicic? *lol*

That said we are using a family name that basically has ‘anne’ tacked on to the end of it… we actually saw the name as a whole first and then fell in love with it because it honors a close relative. Not quite the same, but a similar idea!

My mom’s name is a combined name of her parents:

John+Loretta

=my mother’s name, Jonetta

I always thought it was really neat. And my mom’s middle name is Lyn and my brother’s dad’s name is Frank so his middle name became Franklin.

cute.

I brought that up sort of as a joke to the hub and we came up with some inventive names none would work so nicely as your example 😉 i like brody personally and i think it totally fits with their names but isnt so matchy matchy or silly sounding. a hip name right now really…so i would do it, but not personally with our names.

Our friends tried to combine our names-they sometimes jokingly still call me by it: Andrizabeth. Super cute, I know.

Not to be too Twilight-y, but I actually like the idea of combining our sisters’ names for a middle name or something. It’s Aimee and Emily, so the name would just be a unique spelling of Emilee.
