You might be able to at a trunk show with the designer present, but it can add to the company cost. You could also talk to a seamstress and see what that would cost. Otherwise I’ve never seen a retailer modify the dress to that extent.

May be easier to remove the straps.

Do you not like the layered look at all of Pepper or just the fullness? I would say order Pepper and have a seamstress remove the straps and take out some layers of tulle. It’ll still have the horsehair layers and won’t be a plain skirt like Kai, but it will at least be more a-line.

I’m wearing the Pippa gown but wanted a skirt more like Halo (they’re very similar but Halo is slightly less full) and my seamstress just took out a few layers and now it’s perfect!

I think you could probably find a dress with strapless sweetheart nekline and a tulle A line skirt without costly customization fees.

I think your better off looking for dress like that then trying to build one out of two dresses. I would keep looking. The first store I felt like that about dresses but when I went to second one I found dresses I liked overall a lot better and fell in love with one I don’t have to change.

jlc91319 :  are these dresses all part of the blush line? If so, the answer is no they won’t make you a custom gown. The blush line is intended to be the more affordable line of HP dresses, and as such, customization doesn’t exist. If these are HP’s regular line though, then maybe. But I’d be shocked if you can take the bodice of a mermaid silhouette and put it on an alien gown.

What about the Jardin? The skirt isn’t plain but it will give you the straight down look you want and you can remove the straps.

The other option is to get the Safyr or Xenia and just do a tulle overskirt. Plus then if you wanted to take off the overskirt you could! It would be like having two dresses!

How was the trunk show? Did you end up finding your gown or a solution? When I went to try on HP gowns they made me try on the West with a skirt over it and it was gorgeous. Why don’t you add a skirt to Safyr? That way you end up with two dresses for less of the price of the alterations:

This is is the skirt I tried on with the West gown, it was just like the Pepper gown:

Of course you can. I asked about customisation at a retailer for a different designer brand, all they had to do was email the designer office and ask. The price wasn’t too bad either.

That said it would be wayyy easier if you could go to JLM’s flagship boutique. They will do almost anything you want because it’s their own brand, while retailers may be lazy to even deal with it and say no. I’ve seen lots of customisations for Hayley Paige, like an Elysia top with a Lorelei skirt, etc. If they already have the pattern for the design, the cost isn’t huge.
