This is becoming common in my area. One sharing her baby registry link for her 4th baby, several other baby registries and wedding registries. The one that got me was an aquanitance was “eloping” and shared it a handful of times within a year leading up to her…not elopement, but secret wedding. She said that people keep asking what to get them in a status along with the link to a honeyfund. 🤔

I was invited to a “Welcome Baby BBQ” for some casual friends recently. It’s their second kid and they’re very close in age (like, not even 18 months apart) so I assumed it wasn’t a “real” shower. Other friends have thrown similar events where it’s not a gift-giving event, it’s just a little get together before things get too chaotic with the new little one. Fun times. The host (mom-to-be’s older sister) said I should bring my SO and refused to let me contribute to food, so we took a six-pack of beer and showed up.

You guys.

It was TOTALLY a normal baby shower. My SO was literally the only man there other than the baby’s father, everything was all decked out in pink, and there were shower games. The main event was 90 minutes of gift opening. I felt like such an asshole I told the mom “Ours got lost in the mail from Amazon!!” As though I was the one who had something to apologize for XD It was the most awkward two hours of my life. We left early and I don’t think we’ll be attending any more of their events soon.

 i love these!! hahah

Especially on FB where you know at least 80% of the people are there aren’t even invited. An old coworker posted a Go Fund Me for their dream wedding and his mom (who i actually was better friends with than him LOL) commented on it saying to take it down hahah. She was legitimately pissed and called them out. I wish i took a screen shot.

It was nowhere to be found later!

but if you guys want to get into the Go Fund Me laughs, i had a couple who CONSTANTLY posted about needing your help to “live off the grid”. As in please pay for our RV, all the repairs (seriously like $20 for a shower repair kind of thing), help us move, oh we need money for gas and to rent RV space” – did you think you could just roll your RV around for free? But its saving the planet, i guess lol.

I know a girl who posted a Go Fund Me for raising her child. The baby was 100% planned, Dad is totally in the picture/they’re together. The explanation was that a baby is expensive … no shit!! So embarrassing.

janne91 :  You’ve seriously never heard of a baby shower registry? Where are you from, and have you ever actually been to a baby shower??

Threads started solely to make fun of the choices of others, no matter how ridiculous (or how ridiculous you find things like a baby shower registry…..?!!) are against the TOS. I’m closing this thread now.
