Hello beautiful brides!
Okay, I’ve been having multiple nightmares about wedding shoes. Not kidding, it’s been plagueing my life. I love the idea of heels, but I blister really easily and find even the most comfortable brands really painful after more than an hour or two. That combined with the fact that everyone’s looking at me, I won’t be able to sit down much (so many people to see, and my dress is pretty darn tight! Ha!) means my wedding shoes need to be CRAZY comfortable. Like sneaker comfortable.
I’m thinking of one pair of high-ish reception/photo shoes and one pair of dancing shoes (for my VERY intense first dance). If my reception shoes are too high for 6 hours of standing, I’ll also get one pair of flatforms/similarly sneaker-ish shoe for the rest of the reception. I’ll change into the 3rd if need be, but otherwise I’ll stick to the dancing shoes or ceremony shoes for the reception. All 3 need to be very comfy, 2″ plus, and preferably under 200.
Is that crazy?
Okay, here are the contenders so far. It’s SOOO hard to find REALLY comfy shoes that aren’t really ugly.
1. Clarks | pros – comfortable, classy; cons – probably too high to wear all night
2. Tom’s | pros – comfortable (?), good colors; cons – not very classy
3. Earthies | pros – VERY comfortable, cool design; cons – color not great, heel is awkward
4. Penelope Chilvers | pros – comfy flatform (good for standing), good color; cons – chunkiness might be hard to dance in, expensive
Thanks so much! Also, if you have experience with these particular shoes, the brands, OTHER absurdly comfortable brands, or flatforms, please let me know! Thanks again!

To me comfort = a flexible sole. The only pair of the four that looks like it has any sort of flex are the Earthies. I had a pair of the Tom’s, and resold them because even wearing them around the house was uncomfortable. And I don’t think the heel looks awkward…

I’d look into Ecco shoes too. They’re not always the sexiest shoe, but I have some plain flats and heels from them that I use all the time. I’ve even walked all over Paris in their heels. They’re so comfortable!

Good to know, thanks!
Hmm, I actually just found these, and I absolutely love my other pair of Tsubos. These are a little taller, but I wouldn’t mind extra height for the photos. The reviews are good, so they’re probably comfy enough.

Have you looked into Aerosoles? Or Naturalizer? They have some really good comfortable sandals and dress shoes.
Check out http://www.footsmart.com/ for some great options for comfortable shoes.
Also I voted for the clarks!

My bridesmaids will be wearing flat crochet Toms, one of them swears by them and wears them on a daily basis. I’m planning to wear the Toms grosgrain/peep-toe wedges… I like their company and their style and I think it works well for what we’re going for.. Hopefully you find something perfect!

shlobin: Please wear whatever you choose for as many hours as you expect your wedding and reception to last! I didn’t and my lasting memory of my wedding day is of hideous foot pain.

Dsw also has some good comfy brands. You can also select “comfort” on their site.
These are cute too: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/naturalizer+danya+sandal?prodId=272174&activeCats=cat10006,cat20096

These replies are so helpful!! Thanks guys!
I’ve tried Naturalizer before, and they’re really hit or miss for my feet. I don’t think they’re quite squishy enough for me. I do love Aersoles, but I think their designs have become so popular, the design won’t be special enough for wedding shoes. Also, their straps cut into me after a while because they’re usually made for narrower feet.
The Danyas are cute!! And I’ll check out DSW.
Thanks again for your helpful replies, brides! 🙂

shlobin: I literally just came back from shopping at DSW with my bridesmaids, and recommend the Kelly & Katie brand of shoes since they all have a nice padded insole. There’s a bigger selection on their website, but they do have good variety in the store.
I picked up this pair tonight and even though I’m not a big heel lover or wearer (except for work since I can sit most of the time), they are very comfortable!
