Show us your dress (even a stock photo) and tell us about your venue and price range.  I’m sure that something can be found on DSW, Zappos, or endless.  What’s wrong with flats if you want to insure that you’re comfortable?  There are some really cute, blingy (if you want) flats that would probably work.

I found heels that felt pretty good when they were tried on in the stores but after eight or so hours they are torture devices.

@PeachSnapple: I wish I knew about dance shoes two weeks ago.

Sorry OP.  I don’t have any help for you.

I am wearing beautiful sparkly ballet flats.  I refuse to be in pain all night, not to mention I dont want to be changing from heels for the ceremony and pics, to flats for dancing, back to heels, etc.  You have to do what is best for you, but this is the one time I would not follow the “beauty is pain” rule, no one will be able to see your shoes under your dress anyway.  Smile

Right there with you on shoes. Every time I buy a pair it’s just a total gamble whether they will actually turn out to be comfortable for long wear or not, so I hate shopping for them.

If you don’t go the dance shoe route, try checking out “comfort” shoe brands like Clarks or Naturalizer (here’s a Zappos search you can use to find more). A lot of “comfort” shoes are fugly, but it’s worth looking for the ones that aren’t. Definitely buy from a place with a good return policy. It just kills me how often I hear women asking whether semi-comfortable shoes even exist. We should NOT put up with uncomfortable shoes!

Also if you give us more details on what kind of shoe you’re looking for (color, closed toe/open toe/sandal, etc.) we can help you shop 🙂

Honestly, I hate heels. I can’t stand to wear them for any amount of time because they are always so uncomfortable. I also hate spending money on shoes, and I know that some of the more expensive shoes are more comfy. I knew I wanted to wear heels in the wedding though (no, I do not make any logical sense at all) so I gritted my teeth and went shoe shopping. I found a pair of Madden Girl Getta pumps for $40. And they are comfy. I have no issues walking around in them, standing in them or anything else. The heel does slide a little, but I’ve got inserts to slip in the back so they don’t. The heel isn’t very high, almost 3 inches, but it has a platform, so it’s comfy. I wore them around the house cleaning for three hours on Friday and I was fine. I am blown away. The downside is they don’t really come in a lot of colors. I went with black and plan to buy some pretty shoe clips in my wedding colors to add a little something to them. This is what they look like:
