Let me set the scene:
FH has very few wedding related tasks. Because we are long distance and he is in school, almost all of the wedding ideas and tasks fall to me. I ask him his opinion most of the time and 9 times out of 10 his reply is " whatever you want dear" until…
He realizes that we can incorporate comic book characters and superheroes into our place settings/escort cards. i think it’s great he’s getting involved and tell him to start researching ideas. He finds the cards on ebay, but guess what: now he doesn’t want to give them away, he wants to keep them! And we CANNOT label the cards with the names of our guests. (b/c i’m convinced it will damage them permanently)
He also loves everything disney especially disney princesses.
I’ve seen Mrs Hummingbird’s idea and while I think it is a neat one…FH is really more set on using the cards as long as there is a way to not ruin them.
Does anyone in the hive have good ideas about how to incorporate one or both of these themes using comic book trading cards and possibly Disney characters for escort cards or even favors or favor labels?

How about if you scan the cards? That will also allow you to edit them (ie, resize, add text).

how about buying plastic sleeves for the cards?
that way you can just use a label or a slip of paper to put all the pertinent details without damaging the cards!

I think those are both great ideas!

If you scan the comics, you can also use them on a MOO card (Mrs. Onion’s turned out really cute). Maybe use them on the postcard size, with the guest name below? The mini ones are also adorable but might not be big enough.

that is SUCH an awesome idea! my fiance would c**p himself in jealously if he knew that other couples got to do this without disapproving scowls from the parents. and i agree with Tea- i think the sleeves are a great idea and they would make the cards look a little more special, a little nerdier, a little more awesome. though if your FH really can’t part with them, scanning them in a bunch like the others said and printing them on cardstock and cutting with a paper cutter might work well. this way, you could print the names right on them. you could even still put them in the sleeves so they look more authentic.
maybe you can entice him to surrender the cards by promising him an even COOLER comic-related wedding day gift?
a little bribe never hurt anybody!
