I have officially stopped taking BC after being on it for about 4 years. I decided to stop because my body all the sudden started reacting negatively and I started gaining weight, becoming super moody etc. My SO and I have also been talking about starting a family. I did quit mid pack, but have read I probably should have finished the month out because it helps regulate your hormones easier (too late now).
Anyways- I have been off for about a month now (30 days today) and I am 14 days late for when my period usually would have started. I have read that is common after stopping the pill, but I’m curious to see when other people’s menstrual cycle regulated itself.
How long were you on the pill? Did you quit in the middle of the pack? How long did it take for you to get your period after stopping?

I stopped after a full pack. I was on BCP 16 years. My cycles were regular immediately. Best I have heard is that it takes up to 3 cycles to regulate (which doesn’t necessarily equal 3 months…) and by then whatever your cycle is is what it normally would be.

I quit mid-pack, had withdrawal bleeding right away and then a regular period 26 days later.

The first time I stopped I took three months to get a period. The second time I had a typical 29 day cycle. Both times I was on it for several years and finished the pack I was on. So even on the same person it can go either way.

I got my period back normally right away.

I quit BC after about 13 years, quit mid-pack and got my withdrawal bleed right away. I got a real period 111 days later

sorry about that, my phone spazzed as I was typing.
I was on bc for 6 years with the last year and a half being taken continuously- so no period. I got what’s called a withdrawal bleed (period without ovulation) 5 days after stopping, but then nothing for 125 days. My second cycle was 33 days but I ovulated on day 25. So, it doesn’t look like things are back to normal yet. 🙁

I regulated right away and stayed on my normal schedule. Of course, I stopped at the end of my pack not mid pack so I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

I was on the pill for 8 years. I finished the pack, had my withdrawal bleed, and didn’t get my period until 82 days later. 🙁 it sucked. The cycle after that I got pregnant, but I would have been on par for a 42ish day cycle.

I was on something like seasonique where you only get your period every three months or something for like 7 years. I decided to stop for a number of reasons and finished out my pack. I’d say it took around 2 years for my cycle to really start regulating itself again.

When I stopped I had finished a monthly pack. I had heard stories about how long it might take for my next period to arrive, but it was 29 days. The next two periods were right on schedule, but the third didn’t show–yes, I was preggers.

It took me 2+ months to regulate after 16 years of being on BC.

I never got my period when I stopped the pill because I got pregnant immediately … is that a possibility for you?

My first period off the pill came around 34 days after I finished my last pack. Second cycle post pill was only 24 days. Currently in the third cycle and no idea what to expect…the suspense is killing me!

I’m probably not as helpful but I quit a week before the pack ended. I was on it for 3 and 1/2 years and stopped because of irregular bleeding. I also read that stopping mid pack could cause longer bleeding that isn’t your “true” period but I was already on my period due to the irregularity so I didnt care. I had a normal length period of 4 days with no extra bleeding. It’s been a little less than two weeks now that I’ve been off. So im waiting to see if my period will come back at the same time next month or if it has to regulate after a while longer.
