- Wedding: October 2011
I’ve been searching for a while for the right (and affordable) person to do my hair and makeup. I was looking for as little vendors as possible and have wanted someone who could do both.
A lot of people aren’t available for my date already, even though it’s still 6 months away. I found a girl with a website (not free of some serious grammatical errors) and a limited portfolio. What she has in her portfolio is not bad. I can’t see much of the makeup but the hair is well done.
She doesn’t have any reviews on any website. When I google her, her website just pops up. She’s been a total sweetheart and extremely responsive. She’s affordable and even offers to come to my house for my trial.
However, she’s asked me to sign a contract to save her for my date. Despite there being no online reviews, she’s apparently booked solid every other day in the fall besides my wedding.
I don’t want to do a trial this far away from the wedding – my hair length and skin tone is likely to change (when i become less pale). Is this normal to commit to a MUA/Stylist in a contractual way without having a trial first?
I’m not sure of the process, but I’m afraid that when my trial does come around and I don’t like her services, I’ll be even more screwed in finding a good person.
Do I take the plunge?
