@MsGinkgo:  I can’t imagine you’d just clean one room. We have a private side of our house with our master suite, office, and spare bedrooms that no one goes to except us. The central areas are where people tend to congregate. We have a cleaning lady so I suppose our house is always “ready for company” but I like to have a clean house regardless of who is going to see it. If I never had people over, it’s not like I’d live in a dump 😛

All rooms!!  If I’m short on time, I close our bedroom door.  Start cleaning bathroom first, have my husband clean the kitchen, and I quickly vacuum/dust our main living area.

@MsGinkgo:  Whichever room I’ll be hosting them in, probably living room. (Though in my case living room and kitchen are all one big room…)

Surprise company is my worst nightmare!  I voted kitchen because I can’t bear the thought of someone looking at dishes in the sink.

@MsGinkgo:  I just loathe cleaning so much. I hate spending my free time doing tedious, annoying things. My sister, SIL, and I all have the same cleaning lady so we get a deal. Even if we didn’t, I’d pay any amount to never have to clean again. Ever.

I voted living but our living and kitchen are in one large room so i’d clean both

We live in a relatively small two bedroom apartment, and I try to keep the whole thing relatively clean and presentable just incase someone decides to pop in for a visit without a lot of time. Our bedroom door usually stays open because the litter box is in our master bathroom, and our bedroom is visible right when you walk in the front door. That means it has to be clean at all times. The only part of our apartment that is messy is our master bathroom because the kitten loves to throw his litter. I would have to follow him around all day if I wanted to keep that area clean LOL.

The kitchen. I spend a lot of time there and I don’t normally have people come over without fixing something to eat. I would die if guests saw me cooking in a dirty kitchen. Plus, a lot of the time that’s where people congregate at my house. The living room wouldn’t seem like such a big deal to me, if there were clothes or other things lying around I would just say, “Oh excuse me, let me move that.”

If it hasn’t been cleaned recently, the bathroom.  Even if it’s just slightly dirty it bothers me at someone else’s place.  I almost always change the hand towels for company, and I like to make sure the TP is well stocked too.  Cleaning up any clutter in the room we will hang out in comes 2nd, and the kitchen is 3rd.

    In this order, I clean:

    1- The bathroom

    2- The kitchen

3- Wherever people will be congregating!

Nothing worse than a gross bathroom or unhygenic kitchen. But I keep the house acceptably clean 90% of the time!
