I’m recently engaged and am trying to decide on a permanent ring (he proposed with a stand-in ring which really is nice, but I’m anxious to get the “real” thing on my finger!). I’ve decided that I want a hearts & arrows moissanite. I’ve always wanted a 6-prong round solitaire, but today I found a setting I’d never considered before, but now love. I’ve determined that it is called a compass setting or NSEW setting – basically there are 4 prongs, 2 run in line with the shank and the other 2 are placed at the top and bottom of the stone.
The trouble is, despite having so many settings on moissaniteco.com, I can’t find exactly what I want – I like Sol015, but would prefer a cathedral style shank. Eng097 has the cathedral style I like, but I don’t want side stones. I know people on here are so much more savvy at searching for rings than I am and am curious if anyone who has shopped for moissanite rings may have come across what I am describing?
I’d like this without the side stones.
I’d like this one with cathedral style shank.
THIS IS PERFECT. But I want moissanite!

A few Bees have a setting like that. I think most of them will require a curved wedding band. One Bee has mobias band to allow the prongs to fit well. If this will bug you, I’d go custom with David Klass, Maytal Hannah or JHollywood. I bet the price will be much less that you think!
Sholdt. Great settings, sell F1H&A. http://www.moissanitebridal.com/14k-gold-sholdt-freemont-kite-set-solitaire-forever-brilliant-forever-brilliant-moissanite-engagemen.html
James Allen. Will set moissy if you send to them. https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/unique/14k-rose-gold-compass-point-engagement-ring-item-41246
Brilliant Earth. Not sure if they will set moissy. https://www.brilliantearth.com/North-Star-Ring-White-Gold-BE1906-2088551/?utm_expid=1332916-292.gWc3oa0cSoeJxNK88OtjVA.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F
Maevona. She has access to moissy and will set it, but I’m not sure the brand/cut. I’d be prepared to set to her. http://www.maevona.com/ring-detail.html?rid=471; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6Gdc5KLHPI
DK & MH – You’d have to send your moissy
JHollywood – Has several brands of moissy

Send the one you want to chris [[email protected]] im positive he can get that setting for you.
1. make sure it’s not a “custom” order.
2. they source from multiple vendors.. im sure it’s not hard to get

Check out Susie Saltzman on Instagram http://instagram.com/susiesaltzman
This is her signature solitaire style. You might have to have her source your moissanite because she upcharges to set a stone she didn’t source

Wow, thank you so much! That James Allen setting is pretty amazing. I definitely will have to get a curved/notched band or decide to rock a gap with a wedding band, but my other setting of choice is a low-set 6-prong so I feel like I’ll have that issue either way. I’m going to look into custom; I sort of hate to do it because of added cost (moissanite co settings are just so dang cheap – but maybe there’s a reason?!) but it’s such a simple design I agree that it may be less than I expect.
That’s a good idea; I went ahead and emailed and he responded already! Just with some additional questions – so not sure if it’d have to be a custom order which I know would be more costly, but it doesn’t hurt to inquire.
I LOVE that ring – the dainty band is really awesome. I’m hopeful that moissanite co will be able to get something closer to what I want but I’ll definitely check her stuff out if that doesn’t work out. I seem to really like the style the stuff on her instagram.
When I first started looking for a ring I just kept saying I didn’t really care much about jewelry, but given my new obsession with ring settings that clearly isn’t true. But hey, this thing is gonna be on my hand for a longtime so I better love it, right?!

Have you seen Erika Winters’ new Tilda solitaire? It’s gorgeous!

That Tilda is lovely. I just wish her setting were more affordable…When I was pondering setting, her bezel Jin was about 3K.

Oh wow, that is amazing! It’s so dainty and just so perfect! I’ll have to look on her instagram as well.
So far moissante co has been really responsive and helpful for getting a ring custom designed, and for a quite reasonable price. I’m going to go ahead with it and hope for the best.

Yay!!! I’m glad you found what you want at a reasonable price. I got a 3-stone ring from MoCo a few years ago, back when they carried OEC moissanite, and they were easy and pleasant to work with.
