- Wedding: October 2011
So when I started searching for Hotel accommodations, I was surprised by the many options for hotel accommodations in the area. I thought, “No way would anyone have a hard time finding what they are looking for to enjoy their weekend!” In fact, all the hotels we interviewed for possible wedding sites were offering better deals for our guest hotel accommodations in late October because ‘It wasn’t tourist season’. We actually tried our best to book in a time of year that would have less travel costs since a lot of our dear family and friends live so far away from us!
As standard practices go, we booked a small block of rooms off at the wedding hotel. We didn’t over reserve, because we would be responsible for the costs if we didn’t sell the block of rooms.
About a month ago I started researching a other hotels online to have a quick look to make sure everyone would be able to find *just the right room* for them. Perhaps some might want a cheaper, non beach front hotel.
I thought it was odd that my top to go-to hotels from my old business trip days were booked solid. I just figured there must be something going on on that particular road, like a big wedding or something, since they are next door to each other.
Well.. then I called another go-to-hotel today to ask about a block of rooms, and the wonderful receptionist clued me into our competing event. The “PG World Wood Bat Championships“.
Well some might like baseball, but I’m not a fan. I now have another reason not to like the sport. They are booking up every local hotel in my area!
I emailed all the out of town guests, (The out of town guest’s invites went out last weekend) to give them a headsup. I guess I’m going to keep calling through the list of hotels as well to try to reserve a small block or something *somewhere*.
I tried to be on top of it all, and slipped on this one. Oops. 🙁 I did offer to help search if anyone struggles getting a room.
Whatelse can a bride do at this point?
