Our first floor condo is completely under water. Everything is ruined. We had to save what we could and take our dog and leave to stay somewhere else. It’s not safe to stay there anymore. When we left there were 6 inches of standing water and it was coming in fast. Another big storm is supposed to hit at 3:00pm. Everything is gone, I just want to move away and start over…I can’t imagine going back there . Insurance will not cover water damage so were basically screwed. All the roads are closed so we are stuck living out of our car right now, hopefully something will open up so we can get to a hotel. From there…who knows!

Oh goodness! Where are you at? Perhaps some bees can help you out for now? (I know if you were in my area, we’d lend you a room until you could find something else!)

I’m located in the Chicago suburbs, my closest family is about an hour away but all the highways are closed due to high water and sinkholes. We reserved a hotel that will accept us and our dog, now we just have to get there! The only good news is that our practice is safe so we can sleep there if worse comes to worst.

Yikes, i’m so sorry! A good friend of mine lives in Chicago and posted pics on Facebook earlier today … her basement is, well, you know how it looks. It’s not good at all. She has all of her dog crates in her basement and luckily none of hers were down there (she said she had a feeling about something weird and had them – all FIVE – sleep upstairs). Right before I moved out of my old apartment into my old house (oh, just a week before, no bigs) my apartment flooded. I lost a lot of stuff. Books and pictures mean so much to me, and I had boxes of things ruined. I’ll be keeping you guys in my thoughts
