Okay, so originally, my wedding was planned for sometime this summer – then my fiancé’s brother joined the army, his mother joined the state department, and I’m suddenly having a wedding in February. I have never thrown a dinner party (let alone a wedding!), so I’m a little overwhelmed.
When I finally found (and bought) my dress, I figured that I at least had the clothes situation more or less resolved – turns out there’s about 4,000 different types of veil out there, and I have zero idea what I should get! I kind of like birdcages and mantillas, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I would look completely ridiculous in either. I also don’t know what on earth to do with my hair. Oh, and the dress is way too low cut. Gah!
Okay – sorry for the ramble – I’m just feeling a little befuddled right now.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d really, really appreciate it!

Your dress is beautiful! You look amazing in it! If it were me I would totally bling up a long (either waist or floor length) veil as your dress is more of a simple elegance. It’s really what you are comfortable with and what you like. 🙂

I would go bling too, if you’re up for it! I love the dress. 🙂

I agree on the bling as well! I’m thinking something simple with a rhinestone trim – maybe elbow length? Beautiful dress!

Yup, something longer and with lacing or rhinestones. Have you narrowed down what you like yet?

I love long mantilla veils and I think that your dress is made for something like that!

Agree with pp!! You should go with something that will accessorize your dress!

I tried on and loved that dress too! Why don’t you go back to David’s and try on some more veils?

I think your dress is so pretty and elegant! But if it is bothering you that it’s too low for your tastes, what if you got a piece of satin/delicate simple lace and had the seamstress tack it in across your girls as a modesty panel just to bring that neckline up a bit?
Veils, I think a mantilla would look beautiful with your dress, it’s quite ok to mix satin and lace it’s your day!

I think a Mantilla would be gorgeous with your dress. You could have a veil made and then use a tiny strip of leftover lace to make a modesty paneil across the top so it ties together a bit.
Go to the store where you bought your dress and try on different veils and you’d get a better idea of what you want, what looks good on you and what you’re comfortable with.

@RexManningDay: Love mantilla veils! It depends on the hair styling but look at this dramatically long veil.

Thank you all so much for your input – I do like the idea of a lace mantilla – potentially with a matching modesty panel. My Maid/Matron of Honor plans on making it – I’ll let y’all know how it works out. Thank you!
