I love halo’s too; but after looking at engagement rings, realized I love them way more as right hand rings then as the engagement ring.  By compromising and not going halo, you can have the best of both worlds; plus, your engagement ring won’t look like all the other rings you wear (this is what my fiance said when we went ring window shopping and I told him I only wanted to look at halo’s).

Oddly enough, I personally like #2…which is weird b/c i’m not a fan of round diamonds…but the setting and underside diamonds are beautiful…and I like that you can see the whole solitaire…that’s what I like best about mine, the solitaire is raised up so the solitaire is the focus of the ring.

There are so many rings out there that I honestly believe you can find a perfect ring for you (and the BF). I don’t think you need to compromise. Just keep looking.

Could you do something custom and get the setting from #2 with a non-round stone? It looks like it could be done super easy…

If you can see yourself loving either, I say let him make the final decision. If there is one you are on the edge of, that you aren’t sure about, then choose the other (or if you feel that way about both, keep looking).

@always_the_bridesmaid:  like another bee said…you could put a bug in his ear that you like the setting of one but the stone in the other…if he’s anything like my fiance, he’ll take the hint and make it work…I gave my fiance two favorites — a setting I loved with a round diamond that I was okay with and a cushion cut solitaire (my favorite cut)…he ended up (on his own, which shocked the crap out of me b/c he’s not normally this type of person) putting the cushion cut solitaire into the setting I loved.  No one at the jeweler knew how it would come out, but it turned out gorgeous and is perfect — and, one of a kind, which is kind of cool!

love the radiant one… and diamonds on the side are kind of a pain the way they can wear down the gold on your w ring.

you don’t need to compromise! get something that you love BOTH the stone shape and setting of.
