@Nasta: This is a stunning dress and I can see why you fell in love with it.  I did the exact same thing as you – swore it would be simple and elegant and I ended up with a tulle ballgown encrusted with sparkels on the bustier and on the big poofy tulle skirt.  I love it and I have no worries about dancing in it (or going to the toilet – something a bride pointed out to me). Your dress looks like it has movement and is quite soft.  If it were a ridgid skirt then you might have problems but I don’t think you will.  Let us know how you get on!

I think you should wear whatever you feel the best in.  My dress was pretty big and I didn’t have a problem dancing or anything in it.  Ok, maybe going to the bathroom was a little difficult but that’s what my Maid/Matron of Honor was for.  🙂  Our wedding was in a church, but I’ve seen girls on here that are wearing my same dress for beach weddings, garden weddings, etc.  If you’re really concerned, you could consider having some of the extra layers taken out underneath so it’s a little less poofy.  I think your dress is beautiful the way it is though.

@Nasta: I agree with these other ladies.  Get the dress you fell in love with! You will figure it out!

What if you just bought a super simple, inexpensive dress for the reception? I just found this Suzi Chin dress at Macy’s on sale for $72.

You could slip into it just before your first dance with your husband, and then if you wanted, put your wedding dress back on afterward!

I can understand you not wanting to change for the first dance as this is usually quite well documented in photographs and video.  I think if you’re in a wedding dress that you have never felt more beautiful in then the last thing you want to do is change.  Not a bad suggestion though as there are probably quite alot a brides who do this.
