@This Time Round:  Well, what’s also helpful is green tea nail polish.  it’s not like actual nail polish but it helps to strengthen nails.

Argh. I am having a hard time with staying on the no-nail-biting wagon. Work/career stress + school stress + stress of waiting is making it very difficult. I may just use this thread as my NBA (Nail Biters Anonymous) and check in when I’ve had a good no-nail-biting day. Wink

I just got myself Essie Haute as Hello, which is the perfect peach shade for spring, and I have a lot of nail strengtheners at home. I may just take PPs’ advice and put the nail strengthener on so I’m not tempted to bite brittle/weak nails. That plus my lip gloss and lotion trick.

@subtlebee: The “recovering addict” comment is SPOT ON! That’s exactly how I feel right now. :/ It’s just so hard when you have a lot of stuff going on!

@MrsNewDay:  we just have to repeat, you are not alone. I’ve started trying to always have gum/mints on  hand if i need something in my mouth. ya know, since a pacifier would be strange.

I love this thread bc I was a horrible nail biter until about a month ago! It is such a good feeling to not be ashamed of my hands! My daughter, who is 2 1/2 started biting so I knew I had to give it up. Her and I both stopped and we paint our nails together every other day or so. It is really helping to keep them painted 🙂 So happy for you to have stopped for so long!!

I, too, am a member of the ranks of nail-biters.

Yesterday I used that gross bitter tasting polish on them and partly painted them. I was trying to get myself to actually notice when I was doing it. It didn’t go perfectly, and judging by the bitter taste in my mouth, my fingers have been traveling. My goal was to get them to stop bleeding for long enough to go to a salon and put some gel polish on them.

it still is my goal. Hopefully in the 5 months remaining before my wedding I can kick this…

you inspire me!
