Previously, SO agreed that it was fair for him to have to propose by our 3 year anniversary (8/20/11). He ended up bumping it to 8/31/11, which I agreed to. While he has seemed fine with that timeline, I still had doubts that he would be able to follow through.
Today, SO came home from his counseling appointment (we both go to separate counselors and have gone to joint sessions before but not anymore) and said to me that he would like us to go to counseling together again. At first I went into panic mode, thinking, omg, what does he think we need counseling for again? But we have both learned that counseling is a good thing and does not necessarily mean things are going wrong. He explained that his current counselor thought it would be a good idea and it was a positive thing. I agreed to go. He then says, “Well originally I figured we would wait til after the engagement in August and then start going to pre-marital counseling, but my counselor convinced me that there is no reason not to start now.” My heart skipped a beat, or a million, I swear. Here he was practically confirming our timeline! Woo hoo!

That’s soooo exciting!!! My SO actually shaved a whole month off of our timeline, so I’m ecstatic!! We’ll be engaged by the end of May!
Yay for happy timelines! :o)

@tea: I know! I have a countdown app on my iPhone counting down the days! I love looking at it and watching the days tick away. Of course, probably a bad idea because a few weeks ago my SO was looking at something on my phone and saw the app that said “___ days until I’m engaged!” with a picture in the background of my hand with the ring on that I picked out. I was like, crap, I’ve been trying so hard not to bring up engagement/marriage/etc and here he is looking at my countdown. He just rolled his eyes and said “women are so weird…”, lol.

YAY!!!! I know exactly how you feel! I’ve been waiting for SO to take the reigns and set up pre-marital counseling. I’ve been discouraged because he kept putting it off, but yesterday he emailed our pastor asking if we could meet with him! I’m ecstatic and I’m sure you’re feeling the same way.

Great news- I am glad he is making those extra steps- not too much longer now.
