I am hoping you can help me figure out a situation. I was planning to get ready with my maids in a hotel and have the hairdresser and makeup artist come to us. My first hair trial didnt go as well, my hair had come undone a few hours later and I was completely distraught. I freaked out wondering if it would happen the day of the wedding and cried for hours (I know I overreacted). I went to see him again to tell him that I was unhappy and he was kinda annoyed that I wanted him to do it again so I can see how it looks with my dress and makeup because I didnt get the chance the first time around. He did it again, but with annoyance (and he charge me)
Honestly with that personality, I already felt uncomfortable. Besides the personality, he would be styling 4 maids plus my hair. My mom and sister has advised me NOT to work with this guy because I might end up with a half ass hairdo because 1 dresser and 5 women can equal disaster. Their argument is that any one person cannot handle 5 women in 4 hours.
My other option is to get my hair (with someone more professional) and makeup done on my own and have my maids make their own arraingments (howver I risk them being late to the hotel for pictures.) It’s not what I originally wanted, but at the end of the day I need to convince myself it’s MY DAY and I need to look and feel amazing.
Do any of you have advice. Have any of you opted to tell your maids to make their own arraignments?

If you are not comfortable with your hair stylist and dont have a contract or wouldnt lose money I would look somewhere else. However, I disagree with your mom and sister, if the hair stylist knows what they are doing they CAN do 5 girls in 4 hours. I started getting ready at 10amand was done by 2pm and my stylist did my hair, 4 bridesmaids, my mom and 1 flower girl in that time.
If you do go with another stylist maybe you can work something out where they can still do your BM’s hair. Otherwise, let the girls know they can do what they want with their hair and they will either go somewhere to get it done or do it by themselves and save money.

I agree with naangel55. If you’re not comfortable with that stylist (and it certainly sounds like you don’t), don’t go with them. And honestly, from what you’ve written, I wouldn’t. You’re under no obligation with this person unless you signed a contract. Are there other stylists in the area that would be willing to go to your hotel room?

Again, if you aren’t comfortable and you don’t have a contract & you have someone else in mind… then change. Keep in mind though that for him a trial is keeping him from actually making money off a regular appointment so that may be why he charged for the second trial. He could have probably handled it differently but he still may have had good reason for charging.

1 person can in fact handle 5 updo’s, just don’t pick him cause he obviously doesn’t care about his work.
I would suggest an hour per up do. You go like 1st or 2nd so your all set. Make sure all the girls have an idea and a picture of what they want. This will make the stylists work a little easier. It will go smoother if they have a picture to look at.

I’m going to agree with the above posters. This guy clearly just does not care… find a new one, please! Any good hairdresser can do 5 updos in 4 hours… my fantastic Elvie did the most complicated hairdo I’ve ever seen for my senior prom and it only took about 30 minutes and it lasted ALL night.
