I have posted about this before, but I am still stuck 🙁
I LOVE the dress I have picked for my rehersal
But MANY-a-bee, said it looked too prom….
I looked through alfred angelo’s website (where I got my wedding gown from) and found these two…
both of which I really like (our wedding colors are Ivory, Eggplant, Navy, Pale Purple and Pale Blue, with tosses of black/dark grey)
BUT Than I was poking around looking for perhaps a cheaper alternative and found this (It can be made in the colors I want, Ivory base, purple sash)
It is VERY me! But.. I wouldn’t ever be able to wear it again, unless it want to be SUPER dressy at work (it is ~$110, the others are more than that, I already own the all purple dress)..
What do I do… Should I stick with my purple dress, or move on and order the dress I found today? I am so confused…
Edt: I don’t know if it will help, but here is what my wedding gown looks like

I guess it depends on how dressy/formal your rehearsal is going to be.
I’ve seen a range of rehearsal vibes, from *extremely* casual (i.e. shorts and sandals) to semi-dressy (i.e. what I think of as “Sunday best/church outfit”). All the dresses you posted seem more formal than that. If you want to go that route, that’s your call (and, given that you’re the bride, if you want to kick it up a notch dressier than everyone else there’s nothing wrong with that). I wouldn’t ask the whole wedding party to dress up that much for the rehearsal, though. They will be more comfortable and enjoy themselves more if the vibe is a little more laid back.

I love your wedding gown!
I have an idea, how about taking the long purple dress you already own and having it cut and hemmed to knee length so it’s not as formal? 🙂 It would also be pretty cheap to have that done at a tailor, way cheaper than a new dress.

it depends on how formal your rehearsal is. where is at at and do you know what everyone else is going to be wearing? mine is going to be really laid-back so i’m just wearing a sundress i already own and some wedge sandals.

I like the third one the best…. BUT I think if you like the first one, you go girl!!!! No matter what, if you’re happy, it will show and you will look gorgeous.

I love that third dress you posted…and really if you think about it…would you really be able to wear your purple “prom” dress again? I say go with what you want. The first dress does look a little prom-ish, but its a beautiful dress. Especially if you are having a formal wedding rehearsal.

@KCKnd2: Ditto. Depends on the formality of the rehersal.

@KCKnd2: I never get to dress up, so I don’t mind being ‘overdressed’ .. I’m sure everyone expects me to be anyway, I love dressing up at any opportunity!
@Sunfire: I wouldn’t want to shorten it, you can’t see it in the picture, but there is a frill that goes down the left side of the dress…
@mrs_brownie: I don’t know how formal it will be yet, as it’s not planned yet :-
@MrsJX3: I guess I’m getting into my own head (and not listening to my own advise) and want to wear a more ‘bridal’ color to the rehersal 🙁
@Hippos: It is a prom dress (hence why it looks prom-y).. I don’t know how formal our rehersal will be, but I don’t mind being over dressed 🙂

@futuremrsk18: me too, I think that’s why I’m so torn… It ‘kinda’ reflects my dress, in a different way
