I want to like that dress but it doesn’t give bridal vibes.  I might like it as beach night out dress but not for $300+.  Keep looking.  Some bride’s get great deals with pre loved dresses.  But I think $1200-$2000 is the most common price range pre-alterations.  I had mine made by a seamstress and it was $800.  Have you tried BHLDN? Many brides here have found great gowns there for really good prices.

It looks very nice on you and suits a restaurant reception just fine. I disagree that it doesn’t look bridal. I’d probably keep it and if something else comes up that you like better, sell this one. You could probably get close to what you paid.

Don’t stick with that. Esp bc you have a decent budget. I think you’ll find something you like so much, you don’t have to ask for opinions.

ohiobee :  It does look uninspiring. There certainly is a happy medium between the dress you posted and a very extravagant dress. Oh, and even if your wedding will be more intimate, that does not mean your dress is not important. Do keep looking; I’m sure that you will find a beautiful gown.

It does look not super bridal. I think if you can easily see it in  another color, and imagine it being worn in that color to a nice event, that tells you it isn’t very bridal. BUT, I love the dress, and I feel like that might suit your wedding better. I know I would feel a little awkward if I were wearing a blinged or laced out wedding dress to such a small reception — that said, if you don’t love it, get something else!

ohiobee :  Do you have a photo of the private room at the restaurant?

ETA: Those two dresses are much better!

Not a “bad” dress, but I have to agree that it reminds me of more a beach type dress and if you don’t love it then keep looking! You can find a ton of dresses within your budget. 🙂

Edit: I like those other two dresses you just posted much better as well! I’d send this one back for sure.

I’m the odd person out then because I don’t think the more expensive dresses are any more “bridal” or less casual in style. In fact, the opposite. They may have higher end fabric and workmanship but that’s something you can judge better for yourself in person.

I took advantage of a sale thinking I found my dress for $300, then had regrets similar to yours. If you have doubts or are still looking, its not the dress. When I finally found my current winner, I knew it was the one because I stopped browsing and making appointments to try on other dresses.

Rest assured you’re not at a complete loss because you can sell what you have. I posted my former dress on Mercari and Tradesy. Took about 3 months, but it finally sold (on Mercari)! I was able to recoup $200 – so only a $100 loss.

It is a pretty dress, but l agree it looks more like a beachy kind of dress. Fwiw, I think $300 is actually quite a lot for it too.
The second two are both much better, no need to  ‘settle’ because you are downsizing. The importance is just the same. Frankly, l’d wear a huge sparkly ball gown if that’s what l wanted, and hang the suitability for the venue.

If you are having a small wedding I definitely don’t see a need for an expensive extravagant wedding dress! With that said I think the dress you have is a little too causal. Maybe try Facebook marketplace or amazon.
