I’m sure this has been done before but as I’m sitting here trying to figure out when to book a meeting with the florist and the bakery that works with my schedule and FH’s, I’m wondering how much stuff everyone else’s partners participated in.
FH is off every Thursday and he get out of class at 12. I am unemployed, but don’t get out of my classes (Monday-Thursday) until 2:20. Both places close at 5 and it takes about 2 hours to get to the city because we decided to try to find local florists and bakers so there wouldn’t be a huge delivery or set up fee. I’ve been toying around with the idea of taking my Maid/Matron of Honor or Bridesmaid or Best Man with me. I don’t want to exclude FH but with his work and school schedule, it doesn’t seem like we’re ever going to get everything timed just right. I know he wants to be around for cake tasting, but I was trying to knock out both things with one trip.
He ALWAYS works Fridays, so that takes that day out too. He also has no more personal days to use.
This is frustrating.

Aren’t the shops open on weekends?

@asscherlover: They aren’t. Both are open on Friday, but since FH works every Friday we can’t go together. They aren’t open on Saturday or Sunday either.

@SouthernGirl: How are they going to provide cake and flowers for your wedding (which is on a Saturday) if they aren’t open on that day? I would call them and ask how they plan on delivering the flowers/cake when they aren’t open. If they say they can deliver on a Saturday then I would ask them to accomodate a meeting on a Saturday. You’re planning on dropping a significant amount of money on a cake/flowers (I assume) so they should be willing to work with you. If not I would look for another vendor.
Or just skip your last class on Thursday. Skipping one class shouldn’t put you too far behind as long as you aren’t missing an exam.

@SouthernGirl: Take someone else and take notes at both meetings. If the florist shows you actual arrangements, take pictures. If the baker will allow it, take back samples for him. Voila!

@asscherlover: They only do deliveries on Saturdays so they are open, just not to the general public. I did plan to call them to see if they would make accomadations for us. The florist has already emailed me back and told me he can work with whatever schedule we have, so now the only issue is tHe bakery.
@HisMoon: FH has already said he’s not worried that much about flowers, so hopefully we will be able to work something out cake the cake. He’s going to talk to his supervisor but if not then I will see if I can bring samples back with me.
