I don’t really see the connection between the two.  I am guessing you are going to say how can someone put the value of an animal’s life before a person’s life?  My guess is that that person doesn’t believe that a fetus is a “life.”

@persianprincess:  Because you are starting from the assumption that an embryo/fetus is as much as a life as a baby.  Other people don’t feel that way.

In other words if I felt like since sperm was capable of producing a baby it should be treated like a baby and given all the rights of a person, obviously I would have very different views on things than other people who believed life didn’t begin until conception.

I think your comparison here is silly.

I don’t think animals should be skinned just so people can look pretty in fur. I feel the same way about babies. No skinning babies, ok?!?

I think animals should be sterilized so that they cannot reproduce and create more overpopulation. If a female cat happens to be pregnant when they start the procedure then so be it. That’s 4ish kittens who won’t end up unwanted or who won’t go on to create hundreds of offspring of their own.

I think women should be given options to prevent pregnancy. If they get pregnant despite these options then I think they should have additional options about their own bodies up until the 3rd trimester. After that, they need to stick it out unless their own life is at risk.

    No one likes abortion, dude.

@persianprincess:  Isn’t this obvious? …because many pro choice people don’t view a fetus as an ”innocent baby,” rather a cluster of cells.

    Thus: animals> cell cluster.

Do you love animals but also eat them? To me, that’s a way bigger cognitive dissonance issue.

@persianprincess:  *sigh* I don’t really want to get into a conversation about what constitutes a life. Suffice to say, pro choice people generally don’t believe that a fetus is a life. Simple as that.

Also I’m not sure why “pro-choice” or “loves babies” are the opposite choices on your poll.

@persianprincess:  it probably has a lot to do with the fact that your a mother, IMO.  i’m not a mother, and i am pro-choice.  i don’t know if that would change if i were to become a mother.  from where i’m sitting, an animal with no voice of it’s own is much more “innocent” and requires more protection than something that is what i believe to be a cluster of cells, doesn’t have a heartbeat, or cant’ survive outside of the womb.  that’s just my opinion.
