Bees here should be able to help, but your best bet will be to go to stores and try on various rings.

Stones that are the same carat measurement can look like different sizes due to different cuts. My finger’s a 7.25, and I went with a three stone ring instead of a solitaire because I felt like the solitaire drew attention to the width of my finger, rather than minimizing it. So that’s one possibility.

@srslovebug:  +1

Besides carat is a weight measurement. So all 1 ct diamond are not the same size. (Like ppl  carry weigh differently) add on the additional factors of cut/shape and varying stones (moissy, sapphire etc) and there’s no way to tell. Just try on a variety of rings. It’s fun!!!

You also need to think about if you want anything around the center stone. You can have a smaller center stone with a halo that provides a lot more coverage on your finger. My center stone is a 1.15 carat, but my ring is huge because of all the filigree and detail around it

@walnutgirl:  Maybe you’re a size 7 because you have bigger knuckles even though your finger is still slim.  So 1 carat could look smaller on the width of your finger.  Also the same carat size can look bigger regardless of the size finger if it’s well cut like ideal.  Depends on the table and such.  Like I saw in person a comparison of 1.25 and 1.5 carat solitaires that looked almost exactly the same size due to the 1.25’s cut. I think you just need to take the time to try on a lot of different rings!

Maybe a 7 in Italy isn’t the same as a US 7. Although, my fingers are size 6-6.5 but I think they’re really small. I think they’re just shaped differently and maybe “deeper” as opposed to “wide.”

As far as size, you really need to try them on and decide for yourself.

@walnutgirl:  it sounds like you haven’t looked though. At least not in person. Don’t knock it til you try it. You can always spend countless hours looking here as we bees love to show our rings. Definitely use the search feature on the boards. Try searching halo, round, princess, solitaire, oval, oec, pear, Bezel, etc. hopefully something will stand out bit if you don’t love anything and don’t care for an ering you can always skip it and wear a band (simple or blinged out)
