Definitely speak with him more about this until you both feel comfortable.  Speak calmly, and have information to explain to him more specifically what raising a child entails and who will do what.  Tell him how you feel and your fears. Also remember, although he isn’t interacting with the nephews, having your own child is a whole different experience.  Most people fall in love with their children.

Yes, my brother is exactly like this. He rarely interacts with other people’s kids (like my nephew’s friends or his ex-wife’s baby) but he loves my nephew like crazy and is an excellent father.
