I have a guest list of 60, and I’m trying to budget food for our early afternoon appetizer/cupcake/punch reception. I’ll be DIYing almost all the food and dessert from Sam’s Club. I’m confused on how much I need to provide and how to estimate how much it will cost. Do I need to provide twice as many “units” of food, or more? Like if I want to serve pinwheel wraps, how many do I need to have? 120? 240?
I’m thinking of having 4-5 finger food selections, cookies, 3 different kinds of cupcakes enough for everyone, as well as sweet tea, raspberry sherbet punch, and of course, water.
My calculations so far give me a total of $700. That’s $11.66 a guest. For those of you who have similar guest counts and reception food, does that sound high, low, just right?
I really want to accurately budget the food because it will be the last thing I will buy. I don’t want to either overbudget, waste food, and not be able to spend that money on something else. Or worse, underbudget and not have enough food.
I’d love some input!
