I went dress shopping this week hoping to find something that took my breath away. I guess I went in thinking I would have “that bridal moment” and just know when I found the dress, but no. I tried a few different styles and honestly still can’t decide whether to go the ballgown or mermaid route. We have a few venue options but decided to choose after the dress (so I really am not constrained in terms of style). Any thoughts, opinions, advice? I was thinking of travelling to check out other stores, but due to Covid that would be a little challenging at the moment.

I love the first one! Your figure looks amazing in the second one, but I don’t like the overall style of it. I think the sheer pieces look odd. If you are unsure keep looking! I didn’t have that sterotypical crying moment when I found my dress, but I knew it was the one because I kept comparing all the other ones to it.

Either shape works well on you. I do not like top of dress number 2 at all.

I think the ballgown looks stunning on you. You look really good in the second one, but I think the attention is drawn to the area where it’s lined and it’s distracting.
I never got emotional when I was wedding dress shopping, but if neither one of these “speaks” to you I’d keep looking.

i like the second one, but with a liner. You have a rocking figure for a mermaid.
TBH, I think the corset top in both is throwing me off. You have an incredible figure and the revealed boning is maybe a little too… sexy (?) for me?? I don’t know quite how to word it without sounding like a creep haha.

The corset tops read a little too much like lingerie to me, but I might be in a less progressiv area. Apart from that, you look lovely in both, but with your figure you could probably pull of pretty much any dress shape! So just go with whichever one makes your heart beat a little fastern:)

That first dress is wearing you. Get a liner for the second one or keep looking.

I love the mermaid style on you but don’t like the dress itself. It looks too much like lingerie. When I found my dress there were no tears or the big “bridal moment”. I knew that was the one because there was no hesitation and I didn’t care what anyone else thought about it.

Don’t line it whichever you choose, it completely changes the look and the sheer lace looks amazing on you. The lined/regular/not contrasted lace white dress would read so differently on your body – you look AMAZING.
people need to get over how these dress styles ‘look like lingerie,’ it’s 2020 and who freaking cares

Your waist looks so tiny in the first one! I preffer the first one, second is pretty but it doesn’t compliment your fogure as well.

Hmmm….I don’t completely love either, though they both fit you very well. I’m generally not a fan of the lined/unlined look, and the first one, although a beautiful dress, just seems a little busy to me.
That said, I suppose both of those things are a matter of taste, but if you’ve only been to one store, I would recommend looking a bit more if neither is wowing you.

I prefer the first one, but to be honest I don’t love either one. The lace on both is too busy for my taste and the second dress is too much like lingerie. But you have a gorgeous figure and will look good in anything you pick.

Thank you all for your comments! Neither of these dresses are contenders- just meant to show the style. They’re close to what I would want but not quite. As for the mermaid I would 1000% have a liner, but hoping to find a dress that’s already lined so as not to change the original dress style too much. Hmm. I’m definitely stumped even as to where to start looking.

You look great in both shapes, but I don’t think either of those dresses is the right one for you, so I’d say keep looking.

I think the sleeves of the first dress overwhelm your petite shoulders and the skirt overwhelms your figure a bit. I really like the mermaid style on you, and your collarbone/neck area is gorgeous, so I think a mermaid with slim straps or strapless would really flatter you!
