I would pick a stone that you are comfortable with.  If that is a moissanite or a CZ, then just own it.  People are going to say or think whatever they want.  I know lots of women on this board love their moissanite and CZ rings.  I personally have a diamond ring and am happy with my decision.

BeeLoveHeart:  That looks very white and sparkly! Gorgeous ring. Usually I can see warmth in pictures of moissanite, which from what I’ve read can be a quirk of the stone. Yours looks so pretty!

littlewitch:  I do not own any moissy, nor do I own any CZ jewelry- except for a brand new pair of earring that my husband gave me.  But in my experience– even when I have take the utmost care of high-end CZ jewelry, if I wear it for “everyday wear” (which I assume you’d want to be able to do if it was your wedding jewelry)– it ends up clouding.  And I’ve even tried to “restore” a few peices back to life. but they still had that inevitable cloudiness and ended up in the trash.

I just don’t feel like CZ is meant for everyday wear– if it doesn’t cloud from time, I think they can cloud due to thier softness )especially a ring).  I wouldn’t want to have any stones be CZ on my wedding jewelry– and even though I don’t a whole lot about moissy, I’ve read nothing but positive things about it on this site!!

If I had to pick a stone for a “forever” ring, I would pick moissanite over CZ.  My mom has a few cz diamond bands that she’s had for years that look perfect, no clouding at all, but she also has a pair of cz earings that look terrible.  It seems like it can be hit or miss with cz’s.  I’ve only seen moissanite once in person.  While I thought it was very pretty, it was a little too sparkly for my tastes.  However, since there doesn’t seem to be the issue of clouding I would chose that over cz.

If you’re planning on spending $3,000 on a ring, I personally would get a diamond or colored gemstone ring over moissanite – just my personal preference.

littlewitch:  Do whatever makes you happy. Chances are, a lot of people in the building hate her anyways if she rubs people off the wrong way. You don’t want to be like her, you know?

Mrs.Sawyertobe:  Aw, thanks! I don’t mind that it’s a moissanite, sorry if I gave that impression.

You just need to perfect the “honey badger don’t care” attitude. If you’re confident in your choice, and project that confidence, there’s not much she can do to mess with you.

I can’t speak from experience so take this as you will. Moissanite over CZ any day. It does react to light similarly to a diamond and will withstand the wear and tear of daily use. In my opinion CZ has a distinct look that makes the light reflection look off compared to natural stones as well as Moissy. if I knew then what I know now from the bee, I’d have an OEC Moissy for sure.

littlewitch:  Your coworker is a huge bitch. Some CZ does cloud over time, bu the up side of that is that it can be easily replaced if it does. Moissy doesn’t cloud, and it’s really beautiful. You shouldn’t worry about what that absolute cow thinks of you, she would probably be snarky about any diamond that you got too. Man I want to punch her!

Hmm… I would widen your jeweler options such as moissanite and co or gemvera (http://www.gemvara.com/jewelry/brilliant-lotus-ring/round-white-sapphire-14k-white-gold-ring-with-pink-tourmaline-&-diamond/wjqyx) (sorry pricier but I love the site) (are you using Beautiful petra on etsy? I thought she offered a diamond semi mount in a different lotus design that was less than 3k?). Anyway, dont buy her she uses special czs line, I think your instinct to trust that moissanite may be more your stone is correct (and I have seen nothing saying that CZs sparkle more). As for your work friend – she will never be any better. You can get a diamond if you think it will make you feel better, but I think her dissuading you from what you really wanted will make you feel worse. You could also examine the world of colored gemstones. I personally recommend sapphires since that is my preference, but brilliant earth has some insanely beautiful “unique colored gemstones” sold on their own and beautiful preset blues, pinks, and yellows. Just do not feel bad, there is a world of options and you should choose what you love. Diamonds are only the “right” stone because of a marketing campaign.
