Kafrine:  ovulation doesn’t always occur on the same cycle day each month, contrary to what people think. Opk do not tell you when you ovulated, they show an LH surge which signifies your body is trying to o. The general rule is that once you get a positive opk, you will likely o 12-48 hours after. It’s possible you caught your surge early this time (and it might last longer) and you won’t o for a few days. And that last cycle you could have ovulated that same day. I wouldn’t worry about the few days discrepancy at all. Also, it is possible to have an lh surge with no o to follow.

The only way to actually confirm ovulation is by temping or through a blood test.

Kafrine:  Hmm, yea – I would agree that your temps are really inconsistant (and really low!). Do you temp at the same time every day before you get out of bed? Why is CD12 open circle? I know that it is normal to have elevated temps during your period and at the beginning of the cycle, but unless your temps raise above the previous 6..I would be leery of the OPK being correct. According to the rules of TCOYF, your elevated temp needs to be at least .2 degrees higher than the previous six. Are you newly off of birth control? That can also cause inconsistent temps.

Kafrine:  Drinking usually raises my bbt…but you could always put a note into FF and track to see if alcohol does affect your temps or not. Is this your first month temping? I assume the open circle is due to you inputting your temp at a time that was not immediately after you temp. Have your cycles been regular for the last year? I am sorry I don’t have much more advice about your OPK and temps to confirm o! I think it is definitely possible that you could have had a LH surge but not followed by O, OR you will see a temp spike in the next day or two!

It could be possible your body is trying to o but hasn’t o’ed yet, I’d highly recommend readI got TCOYF by Toni weschler (spelling?) I have really long inconsistent cycles and they helped me heaps! from what I read, temps are far more accurate than opk but only tend to let you know after you o. Just try temping + opk for a few more cycles and see if you can pick up on your pattern possible?
