Since we moved our celebration wedding back to October I’ve been super stoked about the details. We love halloween and I finally feel free to make this wedding about us. I’m considering wearing a fascinator top hat for our reception. I am going to have my super long hair in a french twist with a cascade in curls for the ceremony but I really want a top hat, and I dont think the ceremony would be appropriate. Likewise I’m having a dark purple layer of tulle put into my dress that wont be seen until it is bustled and I’m wearing 9 button rennaisance boots by son of a sandlar under my dress. What do you ladies think of the top hat idea?
Here is my dress the straps will be off the shoulder though:

Here are some of the top hats. The black one is the size I want, but I want an ivory and purple one, with details of the purple one or possibly black and purple to match my boots:

It’s not my style personally, but it sounds like it’s something you really want/your style and look you’re going for. If I had to choose, I like the third one ๐

@chic_and_fabulous: We are rather quirky as a couple this would not shock our friends in the slightest. I actually anticipate if I do this my bridesmaids will want them as well. When I announced boots one of them immediatly jumped onto that train and then the maid of honor announced she wanted shooties.

I voted no, but then I tried to think of it with your boots and bustle and at the reception. It depends on your personality and that of your guests. Most people will find it weird, but not everyone will. I can kinda see it in the right kind of atmosphere.

@MsW-to-MrsM: The theme is halloween. Our table clothes will be haunted mansion damask. We want jackolanterns down the aisle etc. The date is 10/30 the only reason it wasn’t 10/31 is because we couldnt have our reception at epcot on a friday in october.

@dewingedpixie: what color are your bridesmaid dresses? Maybe the black ones for them, and a statement fascinator for you?

I love the idea! If that’s your style and personality, and my guess is it totally is given the boots and details you mentioned, then it will look awesome. I voted the ivory one, so it will still look bridal ๐

@chic_and_fabulous: They will be floor length purple. Their boots will be black. their flowers orange and purple. I think I may do a brooch bouquet.

@dewingedpixie: Yes! Because it’s about you and I have a feeling your friends and family won’t even blink an eye. They know you, your style, your Fiance. Do it and take amazing, unique photos!

@dewingedpixie: I think it’ll look amazing! ๐ Don’t worry about the poll results. Especially if this is your signature style. It’s your day and this is totally a fabulous way to personalize it. I voted for the ivory ๐ Are you doing a veil for the ceremony? I wore a veil for our ceremony, then switched to a fascinator (just a flower with feathers, not nearly as cool as a top hat) for the reception. What colour are your bridesmaids wearing? Maybe you can wear an ivory fascinator and they can wear matching ones in purple or black?

I found the Bee to be pretty anti-hat. I like the wedding hat idea, but I would personally get a smaller top hat fascinator than the ones you posted. I plan to wear a wedding hat. I’m currently trying to decide between replicating this one in ivory

or buying this one who’s lace matches my dress pretty well.

@dewingedpixie: It fits with your personality, so why not! It’s great when the couple really infuses their personalities in to their wedding. I voted black with purple- looking forward to weding pics:)

I love hats and fascinators for weddings, but I don’t love the top hat, personally.
