@Dandelion D:  Hi date twin.  I know exactly what you’re going through.  I had almost everything set up around the year mark out.  Well, both Fiance and I experienced such harsh things emotionally and financially. His parents backed out on helping us foot the bill for several reasons.  It’s part of our emotional story.  Long one at that. I finally broke down.  I was depressed every single day about everything going on.  I was worried I would never be able to afford my dream wedding.  I couldn’t bring myself to look at dresses that I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford.  I finally sat Fiance down and told him enough is enough.  I can’t continue to be depressed over an exciting time.  I needed him to be supportive and allow us such a simple wedding with a great dinner and honeymoon afterwards.  I also told him I’d much rather spend/save money on a house and/or our future children.  He understood where I was coming from and agreed.  We are now getting married by a JOP on our selected wedding date.  We will go out to a really nice dinner afterwards with our close family and friends.  We leave for our cruise honeymoon to Bermuda the next day.  I couldn’t be any more excited and relieved.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me any time.  Good luck!

@Dandelion D:  Thank you.  I’m very excited about it now.  I used to be excited about our wedding planning.  It’s ust a shame that so much had to occur in 2011.  2012 is starting out great though so that’s all that matters to me. =)

@Dandelion D:  Hi there….I think you should do what you feel in your heart.  The two of you love each other and that is all that counts.  Weddings are special for the couple & guests….but often a huge expense.  My fiance and I are planning a destination wedding this July….but also have a small budget.  Only a few guests have booked…   We had always planned on getting married by the “JOP” (although New Jersey does not have them anymore) prior to us going to Mexico for our ceremony.  So…..I recently contacted my local County Clerk to inquire about getting married legally at home.  Just so happens that they are having a Valentines Day special where they will marry couples at a special location (actual wedding venue) on that day.  My honey and I had discussed previously doing our “legal” day on March 1st which would mark 4 years since our first date….But we decided to make it specail and get married on Valentines Day.  The ceremony will be all of 15 minutes and we can still have our parents there.  Also, my fiance is a  contractor with his job and currently does not have benefits and I do so he will go on mine immediately.

At the end of the day….you need to do what makes you happy.  The stress of wedding planning can make you weary….but keep in mind it’s your love for one another that will get you through!

Good Luck!

@Dandelion D:  That is an awesome idea.  Think on it.  Your heart will help you make the right decision.
