I’ve always been an adroid gal. My Fiance had always been an Apple guy, I switched him over to Samsung Galaxy. He is now officially an Android fanboy. We’re slowly winning over his Apple-loving family too.

lovinggemstones :  So I did switch from a Galaxy S6 to the Pixel 2 – big upgrade. My coworker has the Galaxy S9+ and loves it. What I like about the Pixel – one, the camera is amazing, I think still considered best in class. Two, because it’s Google’s phone, it’s the most integrated with all the Google apps – I use gmail and gcal for personal and for work, have Google Home in the house for music, etc. The phone is built really well; the fingerprint scanner is on the back, so you can unlock without accidentally flipping the thing over. I thought the lack of a headphone jack was going to be a problem, but it honestly hasn’t been. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones (just basic/generic, not the Pixel Buds) and it’s been smooth sailing to use them with the phone.

ellyd23 :  thank you! It’s very helpful. The photos could convince me, but I did not hear about headphone jack. I’ve heard Pixel 2 is the best choice for people who switch from Apple, I wondered about those who switch from other Androids. Thanks!

I switched from Apple to Samsung Galaxy a while back.. so glad I did. I had an iPhone 4 way back when. I kept it for years, and then it got to a point where the phone was sooo slow bc it couldn’t handle the updates. I’ve had my Galaxy 7 a few yrs now. (I like to keep phones as long as I can.) I think it handles updates much better, but then again wasn’t there a lawsuit or something involving Apple slowing down “old” phones?

I can’t believe Apple makes you pay for a subscription just to use your own music?

Here are some things I love about my phone:

-The back “button” (more like a sensor). I use it constantly and with Apple you have to find the arrow on the screen

-I use Amazon Music and sometimes YouTube (but that uses a lot more data)

-Never run out of space with photos/video

-Widgets! I love the widgets on the screen… they make it easy to see “inside” an app, so to speak. I use them for my morning alarm, email, and music.

-Custom ringtones! Although I don’t think you can do custom text tones anymore with the update 🙁 I installed another app… Textra. Way better than the one it comes with imo – more customization

I’ve never had an iPhone, my experience with an iPod made it clear I wouldn’t like one.  I’ve always found Apple products to be proprietary and restrictive.

On that note, Android all the way!  I have a lesser known phone, a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.  I adore it because of it’s small size, expandable memory slot, headphone jack and fingerprint scanner but the camera isn’t the greatest at low light (not a HUGE deal, but worth mentioning).  I have been eyeing the new Galaxy 9 because it meets MOST of my needs, but it’s sooo big to me.  I haven’t seen one in person, but I’ve been intrigued by the Xperia XZ2 Compact which is the newer model of mine and the same awesome size but it lacks a headphone jack.  Tough decision….

Not sure if this has been mentioned but you can use Skype or Whatsapp on an Android to voice or video chat, like Facetime.

danier : I forgot about that! I went from a little iPhone 4 to a Galaxy, and I really didn’t like the size at first bc using it one-handed was difficult for my small hands. I’ve gotten used to it but still would probably prefer a bit smaller lol, but they won’t do that anytime soon..

 Charliejeorge :  Np! 🙂 Awesome

It’s been a couple weeks and I’m coming around to my Google phone. It’s pretty awesome! It was just the big change from iPhone that was hard… Having to set everything up is a pain in the butt.

If you’re thinking Android and mainly use it for social media/photos, etc, consider the Huawei P20 or P20 Pro! The camera is amazing! I’ve had mine for just over a week and I can’t get over the picture quality

My first smartphones were iPhone 4/5 but then i dropped apple soon after that & ended up fully switching to android & never looked back.

I now have the Samsung Galaxy s8+ & really love it…but, before this i had the old s5) But the s8 plus is very customizable & you can change the theme/icons to pretty much anything you want on the home screen.

Though, i do own an Apple iPad Mini & LOVE it too. I just don’t miss having an iPhone or using one.

I’m a “color inside the lines” kinda gal, so I’ll be sticking with Apple. Had my iPhone 6 for going on 4 years without an issue. I will say I don’t use apps a ton aside from banking and Pinterest, I just appreciate the simple interface. Maybe I’ve been brainwashed but I won’t be switching any time soon. My friend had an android and every time I tried to use it I wanted to throw it across the room. Plus the weird app icons and cursive text *gasp* drove me bananas. I’m a little OCD. 😂

I made the opposite switch. I always had Androids and they just could not keep up with me. They were constantly crashing or bugging out. I had LG and Samsung and one or two other brands. The only Android I actually miss is the LG but I don’t like the knew ones. My last three were Galaxys and I wanted to run the things over with my car. I switched to an iPhone5 and the only thing I missed from Android was the swype keyboard. In my experience battery life and durability has been better with the iPhone.

I continued to use a Galaxy for my work phone and I came to absolutely hate it and eventually switched that over to my old iPhone 5.
