Yes, do it! I love my moissy, and it’s not even a mira (amora?)!

wmk6, Welcome!

Just to clear some confusion, I read on the Better Than Diamonds blog (by Less) that the enhanced moissanite stones available currently are Mira, and the new hearts and arrows cut ones that have yet to be released in many places will be called Amora. I don’t think you can buy Amora yet in North America due to a patent issue.

Anyway, apart from all that technical stuff, deathbydesign said a lot of what I was going to say. If you love your stone you can either sent it back to Moissanite Co (if you use them) to get it placed in a setting (there are a few bees on here who have done that), or do what deathbydesign and I have done – get it set at a local jeweler who can custom-make your ring and you can be involved in the process.

I gave my jeweler my stone and she created the wax for my ring a few weeks ago, and it was great to be able to approve it and recommend a few changes before the casting is done. Unless you find the exact ring you want online (moissaniteco.com is a great website), getting a custom ring online may be tricky.

I’m super happy with my decision to get moissanite. I’ve posted pictures of my stone loose and in a temporary setting if you want to see what my enhanced 1 ct equivalent round brilliant looks like πŸ™‚ (Just click on my username to get to my posts, near the bottom of the page.)

Moissanite is incredibly sparkly, which is one of the many things I love about it. (Along with price, it being ethical…)

Let us know what you decide!

@wmk6:  If you buy the stone and like it, you can send it back to them to be set in the setting you want.  Or, you can just have the setting ordered through a local jeweler.  *most* of their settings come from casting houses like Unique Settings of New York or Adwar.  πŸ™‚

@wmk6: MoissyCo has offered to send me a wax setting of the one I was looking at so I could see how thick the shank was! Their customer service is fantastic, dont be afraid to ask questions!

@misschickpea: That is awesome! How much were they gonna charge for it though? I have fallen in love with one of their settings but I am nervous to order it cause it looks like it may be to thick for my short stubby fingers

You can get an Amora stone from moissaniteco now. I just received mine today! Its gorgeous. We went with the upgrade even though its a 1 carat and likely would’ve been fine without it. I’m glad we did though, because the color is rated as an H and it  looks great. For me, it was worth the extra cost to ensure it is more colorless.

I also want to add that the quality of the setting is awesome. We chose palladium and I love how shiny and heavy it is compared to white gold rings I have. The setting is very well made and truly looks better than many I tried on at jewelry stores. If you choose one of their settings I doubt you will be disappointed. Hope this helps!

When I was considering moissanite (for literally over a year) the weddingbee boards helped me so so so much. There is so much good advice and information on here, not to mention fantastic real life pics that show what moissanite can really do. Thanks for all the helpful advice, ladies (and for responding to moissanite posts over and over with the same info just to make sure people learn about it.) You moissanite girls are the BEST! I wouldn’t have the beautiful ring I have today without all your advice.

Good Luck!

I just got my 2ct unenhanced moissanite yesterday! It’s so gorgeous and I’m really glad we made the choice to go with MoissaniteCo! I would upload pictures but I can’t figure out how to do it from my iPad…

It is my understanding that Amora is currently just the whitest moissanite on the market. Hearts & Arrows Amoras exist, but they are not available to sell because of patent issues with Charles and Colvard.

Back to OP… I’m going for moissanite and am super excited about my choice!
