I feel like taking it off would be seen as passive aggressive. I think it would be sweet for him to move your promise ring to your right hand and place your new one on your left.

I think you’re overthinking this and making this out to be an issue in your head when actually it’s a massive non-issue in every sense.

I don’t see how it would be awkward if you’re wearing it when he proposes, unless it’s, like, rammed onto your finger and takes considerable effort and time to remove? And I don’t see why this would be a problem to just discuss with him outright. If you’re about to get engaged then it shouldn’t really be any sort of issue to just bring this topic up with him surely.

Just switch it to your right hand! He probably won’t even notice. My sister wears her promise ring on her right hand and they’ve been married for 10 years now.

It definitely won’t be awkward having it in when he proposes. Agreed that you’re overthinking- if you’re anything like me, waiting  likely has your mind working too hard to distract you lol

I would leave it where it is unless you really don’t think you will be able to get it off. Then just move it to the right when he proposes.  And if it is stuck on due to your finger swelling from excitement, you can twist it around so the stone is on the inside of your palm and it just looks like a band.  Then he can slip on the engagement ring in addition to the promise ring, and you can figure it out later when you have a moment.  It could be practice for when you have a wedding band.

Just switch it to the other hand that night.

xiexie :  It is possible.  If you are nervous/excited/stressed enough to blush or sweat, then you have blood rushing to the surface which could make your hands swell.

honeybee2020 :  I had the same thought process. During my engagement my fiancé took off my promise ring and put on the engagement ring. It was very sweet and I’m glad I kept my promise ring on.

honeybee2020 :  definitely not alone on those thoughts or the anxiety. Most people experience anxiety, but for some reason it’s still taboo to talk about. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I definitely am an anxious human and while it sucks, it’s also served me well.
