@Miss Tattoo posted a great article from Offbeat Bride about sending a letter in with your marriage certificate in support of same sex marriage. While this is an awesome gesture, I’d just like to clarify that judges and the courts only change laws when the state gets sued, although the judge or other court employees who read your letter may be personally effected. A letter should really go to your state representatives. 🙂
If you are so inclined, you can go to http://www.freedomtomarry.org, and they have a really easy system to send a letter to your elected officials and sign a pledge to support marriage equality.
If you would like to go even further, you can go to this website to find the contact info for your elected representatives. You can email, snail mail or call them. Typically snail mail letters to your state rep are more valued if you have your full contact info and the letter is hand-written in your own words.
Thanks, bees! 🙂
