I agree, if money is not an issue, then get the one that you feel beautiful in! It only happens once right! (BUT, i just have to say that i LOVE your original dress!)

I think you should go with your heart.  That 2nd dress is more $, but if you can afford it go for it if it will truly make you feel amazing on your wedding day.  You look really great in it, it does a lot more for your body.  I think you will be able to sell the first dress, put it on a few different sites (ebay, preownedweddingdresses, recycledbride, etc) and I bet you will be able to sell it.

To be perfectly honest, I like the dress you already bought WAY better!

I think the dress you already have is EXQUISITE!!! Gorgeous and perfect for the theme you mentioned you’re going for (romantic, nature). I’m actually a Dakota bride myself (the second dress you said you tried on and love), so I can sincerely say your first dress is gorgeous.

Now, they’re totally different styles. When I decided to go for the mermaid look, it was because I wanted to do more of a sexy/wow look. If I had gone for a more romantic look, I would’ve gone for something like your first dress.

Okay, all being said, in a way YOU really need to feel happy wiht your choice. So even if all my words make sense in theory but you still don’t FEEL it, then don’t force it, go with the dress that FEELS RIGHT!

Yes, it’s only a few hours in your day but its such an important day in your life you need to feel amazing!

They are both gorgeous!  Have you tried getting “jacked up” as SYTTD Atlanta would say?  A veil, jewelry, your hair done, etc?  I think that can make a big difference.  But you do look fabulous in the second dress too, so if you do choose that one, its a great choice too!

I think you should go with the dress that makes you feel the most beautiful! And if that is the second one, and you can techncially afford it, then I say go for it. Yes, I understand the feeling guilty about the money side of it, but this is the kind of opportunity you have to totally spoil yourself a little! You deserve to be happy and to feel 110% beautiful and comfortable on your wedding day.

And, based on the bees response… I don’t think you’ll have your first dress too terribly long before you sell it. I think it is STUNNING holy moly! If I didn’t already have a dress I’d consider buying it lol.

I prefer the first dress. It’s more special and romantic.

@MrsDe2013: +1. Pictures are forever, so I would absolutely get the dress you’re dreaming about since you’ve already said it’s within your budget to do so.

But I do love both of them! I don’t think you can make a wrong choice here – they’re stunning! 🙂

I’m in the same boat! I bought a beautiful, romantic dress… but something less ‘practical’ and less what I thought I would want has been nagging at me! My solution is to find the ‘splurge’ dress for sale used, so the money doesn’t make me feel so guilty!

Have you looked in the classifieds on this site? There are lots of other pre-owned wedding dress sites to check out, too… you might even find the exact same dress, and could even save money on alterations if you purchase it from someone with very similar measurements. Mermaid dresses don’t seem to be very hard to find, and I’m guessing only ladies with your lovely figure are wearing them so they’re probably in your size range anyway!

    Don’t settle 🙂

When I saw your first picture, I thought, “Oh no, I’m going to have to give her the wrong advice.”  Because I thought that the first picture was of the dress that was too expensive and that you hadn’t bought!  It’s so gorgeous.

Having said that, if you have the money, I think you should buy the dress you love.  In a few years, the few hundred dollars you lose on your first dress won’t matter too much to you.

But. If buying it would really and truly put you in debt, then I would stick with your already stunning gown.

I like your first dress better. BUT do what makes you happy. I can think of multiple times I have wasted over 1k, so spending money on a dream dress doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

I was in your shoes a few months ago…. GET THE SECOND ONE!!  IMO it is much more flattering on you.  And trust me, from personal experience I can tell you that once you purchase the second, you will stop looking!  I was not happy with my first dress either (same as you got a killer of a deal on it) so I kept looking.  I finally found the dress that I love and bought it.  However, only you know how much is too much to spend.  My dresses combined were only about $1100 which I could easily justify (but that’s just me)

I have my first for sale as well…. and have decided that if it does not sell by December, I am going to be donating it to charity (and using it as a tax write off….)  Just a thought!

I think you should keep the first dress. Personally I’d rather put that 2 grand towards a holiday. There is nothing wrong with that first dress. Either dress you’ll be wearing for only one day, right? As far as wedding photos go, I don’t know anyone who regularly looks at their wedding albums, and photos displayed in the house start to blend in anyway (you don’t notice them after a while).

I don’t get the sense that you hate the first dress or anything. Both dresses will end up looking dated in wedding photos (as do ALL dresses). I’d just save my money. Better things to spend it on IMO.

Your first dress is super pretty and I love it…but damn, that second dress makes your body look awesome! I’d go for it. If you can afford it, you truly feeling gorgeous on your day is worth it.
