I am slightly uneducated in this area. Bear with me here..
Quick rundown, I have triphasic pills and am nervous of altering them to skip or delaying my period. I just started the pack as well. Getting married in 3 months. Not sexually active, so our honeymoon will be “speicial”. But looks right now I am getting my period on wedding day and honeymoon.
Looking into other options of how to have sex while on period. Came across the idea of the Beppy or Sea Pearls Sponges. Used as tampons, but websites say you can have sex in them comfortably. Is this true? Has anyone used a sponge while having sex?
Sounds easy to buy a couple sponges and insert it that night to have mess-free sex without having to alter my pills and screw the hormones around.

I was a waiter and I’m just know getting into the whole sex thing and all the wonderful options. Are your periods typically heavy with your pill?
I noticed that mine can be very light and its really not a huge noticable thing, and also your first time you might bleed a little anyways ( just food for thought).
I have never used a sponge, but most are use for contraceptives so I know they can be used during sex. However I have never heard of one used to block the period stuff if you know what I mean.

I have never heard of wearing a tampon during sex. I just don’t see how that would work or be comfortable. I think it would be much simpler and more enjoyable for you if you adjusted your period. I’ve adjusted my period many times over the years when on BCP’s…it’s really simple and your doctor or nurse can tell you exactly what to do so you won’t worry!

What I meant by just starting my pack was that this is my first pack of pills EVER. So I don’t know how the pills are adjusting to my body or what my period will be like.
And when I went to my doctor to get them prescirbed I asked and at first his reaction was… “Well with these triphasic pills (Ortho tricyclen lo) you mess up your body hormonly when you alter the packs, and just can’t skip like other brands” So I continued to ask, and then he was like “Wellll…. you could…” and then “Yah, just do it. It should be fine.”
Um sorry, your so flaky with you answers I don’t trust you. (That is why I am here haha)
My friend is on the same brand, pretty much same situaton, and she skipped her placebo and had a 3 week period.
And I looked them up… like check this out…

That little sea sponge is a natural tampon. It sits only by your cervix. There is also one by Beppy, that is smaller and not a SEA sponge.

No experience with the sponges but i cn tell you tryint to skip to the nexy pack of horomone pills to avoid your period doesn’t work. Tried to do this when Fiance and i went to Hawaii and I spotted the whole time ๐ UGH. Your period is going to be lighter and last fewer days now that you’re on the pill, at least mine was!

I mean, quite frankly, the thought doesn’t gross me out. And if it was any other time I wouldn’t care. I’m sure Fiance and I will have sex on my period all the time! It’s just out first time… hahah… Wouldn’t want that to “ruin” it.

I haven’t tried menstrual sponges, but there’s a product called Instead that you can get at most pharmacies near the period supplies. It’s essentially a soft cup that fits up around your cervix and catches blood. It may take some practice for you to get comfortable with where it needs to be, so if you want to try that I would get a package of them (I think it’s like 12 to a pack, they’re disposable) and try them out during your next period. It can be a little irritating during sex, so I don’t know that I’d really recommend it for this situation, but depending on your viewpoint and his, might be helpful.

@MissHighHeel: Sorry, but your doctor sounds a little wishy-washy. Of course, I can understand where he doesn’t want for you to make this a pattern, but you definitely can alter your period by skipping pills. I was on Orthotricyclene for over 10 years and did it multiple times with no problems. I suppose it might be a little different for you, since you’re just starting out…but, hopefully, your body and cycles will have worked out by then. Good luck and enjoy your honeymoon!

Oh, and the other benefit is that even if you get irritated with Instead and take it out for sex, your… lady parts still smell fresher than they would usually because there hasn’t been period blood interacting with the air as much. Sorry if that’s Too Much Information, but it is a benefit!

To be quite honest, you’ll bleed during sex, period or not, and be rather sore the first few days if you’re waiting. We did too, and we didn’t really go too crazy the first week as it was. On BC, your period should become a lot lighter and fewer days, so it may not matter too much.
I’ve never tried the sponges, but you could always get them to try. If you don’t like them, I would try putting a towel or blanket down and don’t worry too much about your period. Actually, I would recommend a towel or blanket anyway. ๐ We still use one, actually. It catches all the fluids so neither of us has to sleep on a wet spot!

@MissHighHeel: I’ve tried to skip a period when I used to take Ortho Tri lo and it did not work, I spotted the whole time then messed it all up and got a period for weeks…was not worth it! I’d just say throw a towel down and have fun ๐

@MissHighHeel: I think it depends on the person. I bled quite a lot our first time… it was a lot more than I expected! Bring some old panties along on your honeymoon. You won’t want to be sitting around in lacey thongs if your lady parts are all sore. I actually had to grab one of the wine coolers we had in the mini fridge to use as an ice pack because I was so sore!
