I’m so bummed.. My fiance wears chucks every day, they’re his thing. He loves them. We even found him black patent chucks to go with his tux a couple of cruises ago, which he is also going to wear to our wedding.
I happily have to wear flats for our wedding anyway (no heels allowed) and I was going to surprise him by wearing my own fancy chucks. Found sparkly prismatic silver ones online at Journeys that were *perfect* — then I painstakingly blinged them out even more myself, even adding “my thing” — little black Swarovski crystal Mickey heads among the silver crystals covering the toe. Even added my favorite pink with organza laces.
Finally finished them and took them with my dress over to my mom’s to try everything on. They don’t work!! 🙁 Even with my dress being long, you can still see the shoes when I walk — and they just catch your eye way too much. Just doesn’t look right. And he was going to be so surprised!! So all that work and $$ for nothing… I need to figure out how to sell them somewhere, I guess. I would just keep them to wear with jeans or something, but it’s a million degree here 9 months out of the year… I never wear jeans, lol.
Anyways, for reference for those considering wearing chucks, this is them before I blinged out the toe part:

I’m toying with the idea of a new pair of chucks for my wedding. I’ve seen some nice silver ones that I like but they are so expensive to buy in Europe, so I think I’m going to have a look round when I’m in the US in October.

I’m thinking about wearing some form of sneakers for the wedding; I am physically disabled, lack balance, and photos will be outdoors in not level ground. That said, I want the pretty shoe shots! So I’m thinking of nice flats for the pictures, and sneakers otherwise. I will need flats for my reception dress since my feet will be visible. I’ve not bothered telling most of my family, just my partner, sister, and cousins. All of them are fine with it.
I say do what you want, and what is comfortable.

OP: More power to you. Do whatever makes you happy. I’ve some some pushback as well including from my seamstress, but what the heck!
Same here 🙂 We even have the same wedding month. I’ve loved Chucks since I was a teenager. Besides, I’m not used to heels and there’s going to be a lot of walking on cobblestoned streets during our wedding day.

I have some heels for the ceremony and I am wearing converse for the reception. I just cant decide what pair. I found some light blue skimmers and Some ivory and gold glitter classics! Choices, choices! I will have pics to share next week!
I think you should wear what ever is comfortable for you and makes you feel beautiful and confident.

I don’t have pics, but I went on pinterest. I bought off white chucks and put purple laces in them (the wedding colors are champagne and purple). I have nice wedges for the ceremony (got them cheap at a discount store, $40). Then I got chucks for the reception. I have really bad feet and these are comfy and I can dance in thm.

I’ll be wearing custom Chuck’s in fact our entire bridal party is wearing them. We’re getting them custom dyed to match our colors. Didn’t get any push back from my bridesmaids. They were actually excited that they don’t have to be in uncomfortable heels. I don’t have pictures of mine yet but I found pictures of other brides wearing Chucks on Pinterest.
