We are doing the whole Chuck Taylors thing for the groomsmen. I told him months ago to start buying them so it wouldn’t be one big chunk of money, but of course it’s a month before the wedding and he hasn’t yet! And he doesn’t want to pay $40+ a pair (6 pairs plus one for our ring bearer).
Has anyone found any cheap ones anywhere? I tried looking everywhere and $40 is the best I could find.
He wanted to buy immitation ones from Payless ($22) but I thought that would be kind of stupid. It would save us $100, though!
Thoughts? Has anyone found a good source for Chucks?

They are WAY too classic to get the imitations. Like, classic Americana-everyone-and-their-brother-knows-what-they-should-look-like. Plus, of all things – you can wear them after the wedding! So, it’s not like they are going to waste for one day. And $40 for a pair of shoes is actually really cheap. If he had the guys buy dress shoes, they would cost a lot more.

I think if you’re going to get close up pics (like the shoes pics) then you have to get real ones. Try DSW – they’re $40 there but you can use multiple coupons on their site (look online for them – you can use up to three) – so it can save you decent amount.
I think you can get the imitations if you’re not going to get any close ups because you won’t actually see most of them.

I know…when he said imitation chucks it kind of took away the whole point of the shoe! Plus I’d love some cool artistic shots of the guys in their shoes (up close) and wouldn’t want it with imitations.
I will def sign up for the DSW rewards and I think I might have some Kohls coupons somewhere.
Now I just have to talk him into it…otherwise imitations it is 🙁

my friend used my employee discount (i went with her & she paid) when she got chucks for her Fiance and groomsmen. check to see if you or FI’s friends work anywhere that sells them. my employee discount gave 40% off. hot topic, torrid, journeys…hmmmm anyplace that would sell them.

We have a Converse outlet, and that is definitely the way to go.

Oooh outlets is a great idea AND employee discounts! One of my friend’s friends works at Pacific Sun. I’ll see if they have them! Thanks SO much!

You have to go classic if you’re going to use Chucks! Everyone and their brother knows what they look like, so imitations would stick out like a sore thumb! Also- my Fiance wants to go with navy blue hi-tops classics and he’s putting off buying those as well (little under two months to our wedding!) so I feel your stressed out pain!

We got most of our pairs at Kohl’s. It really added up but they have discount coupons all the time.

Usually imitation isn’t a deal breaker to me but I don’t think it would fly with Chuck’s. They’re so widely known and such classics that it’d be obvious. And, the groomsmen might even be a lil offended by it. I totally hear you on wanting to save money. But I don’t know that it can be done if you really want the guys to wear Chuck’s.

Shoe Carnival is having a buy one get one half off sale. That should help with the prices!

$40 for chucks!?!
I’ve bought several pairs throughout my life and never paid more than $25! Keep your eyes open and search the web and you will find some in your price range.
Have you looked on ebay? I did a quick search and some are only $9. I’m sure you can find some in their sizes and the right color for much cheaper (and probably get a break on shipping costs if you ask the seller)

the only shoe that i’m passionate about sticking with the classic is Converse. however, for one day, and for all the guys, i think it would fine to get the knock off. honestly, i really don’t think anyone will notice/care. hopefully they will notice other parts of the wedding other than whats on the guys feet.
