I am looking to purchase a convertable car seat that can go from rear facing to forward facing for a toddler. Found a great blog with tons of recommendations but now I am looking for some real life experience with car seats. Like if you cannot stand the Britax so and so because of this than let me know! We will be with this car seat for awhile so any help would be great. Thanks!

Honestly it will be a personal decision. We just went through the same thing about a month ago and went with Evenflo Sympathy 65 e3. It has just as good ratings for safety as Britax. In fact I personally thought it was better because you can go from rear facing to front facing to booster with this one. (goes up to 100 lbs while most Britax only go up to like 70-75 lbs).
And I just could not justify the cost of Britax (we bought 2 one for each of our vehicles.) We have a SUV and a smaller car and the Evenflo fits fine in both.

Commenting to follow because I’m still tweaking my registry and I don’t really know what makes for a good convertible seat. I’m currently registered for the Britax Marathon 70-G3, but only because I saw it on Amazon and it had good reviews.

After much research we have decided on the Britax Roundabout. It has all the safety benefits of the pricier Britax’s but is about $100 cheaper due to the fact that you have to rethread the harness to change the height. I’ll take it!
- EPA foam
- Steel frame
- 4 harness heights
- 2 crotch buckle positions
- while rear facing there are extra straps to secure the seat to the floor
- rear facing 5-40 pounds(that is a high weight compared to others, plus we can put a newborn in if average weight)
- forward facing to 70 pounds
- should last 5-6 years!!
- Made in the USA!
- $149.99 on Amazon
- have to rethread harness to adjust
We will be using this carset from birth so I did pay the extra $12 for the infant insert by Britax that positions an infant correctly.
Hope this helps!

I spent hours/days researching, and decided Britax Marathon was the best. We’ve had it almost a month now and absolutely love it. It has some of the best safety ratings- highly recommend it. I think we got it on sale at albeebaby.com along with our Maclaren Quest stroller (also on sale)… not cheap but worth the money!
