I’m going to be a bridesmaid next spring and the bride has decided to go with the convertible dress, fantastic, except that the light colour (and thin fabrication) make it almost see through.
Wearing underwear and a bra is going to be hard. Everything I’ve tried you can still see lines… Not to mention any “wobbly bits” are now on full display. I consider myself to be pretty thin, but this dress is just highlighting all of my flaws.
Anyone have a similar experience and have some advice about what you did? I’d like to avoid feeling self-conscious all night.
**Dresses are all bought and in our hands, I don’t see making a dress switch as being an option.

bridesmaid001: Have you tried on the dress the way you intend to wrap it, to see if a slip would help? If you can’t wear a full slip you could wear a half slip. There is an option to get a slip altered so that nothing will show.

Can you wear a slip underneath or some shapewear?

I tried some spanx! Usually they do wonders, but of course because of the fabric you could see the lines on my thigh…

bridesmaid001: Im also considering getting a convertible dress for my bridesmaids. Would you be able to tell me the brand of the dress?

I’d recommend a slip – yes people will probably be able to see it (from how you’ve described the dress) but you can ensure your modesty!
Nude might be the best colour if you can find one.

bridesmaid001: Have you told her that it’s seethrough?

bridesmaid001: Could you wear a slip? I would definitely see if that helps.

Commando makes some pricey but virtually invisible underwear and shape wear… Any way you could give that a try? It has raw edges but runs about the cost of Spanx.
