Hi all! I’ll be ordering my wedding dress this Saturday, but I wanted to see if anyone here has had a similar dilemma. I tried on the same dress at two different bridal boutiques (I was hoping the second location would have the dress in a different color). The first shop said that the corset back could easily be changed to zipper ($50) or buttons ($150). The second shop said they could not change the corset back on the dress because “it would ruin the integrity and shape of the dress.” The seamstress was there at the time, and she agreed that it shouldn’t be changed.
The next day, I called the first shop and asked if it was a bad idea to change the back. They said it’s very common for their seamstress to change a corset back to buttons, and that the dress would still look great.
Does anyone have experience with this? I’m not a fan of corset backs, and would really prefer buttons, but not if it will ruin the shape of the dress!
