A few weeks ago, Brad and I went to a Jewish stuff store, with the intention of looking at ketubot. While there, one of the store people had a really cool suggestion…(modified in my mind). The store sold colorful glasses to break, vs a regular wine glasses, that upon being broken, could be added to a mezuzah or a solid piece of glass/plastic.
I had heard about preserving the glass in a cube, which I was ehh about, but I really like the idea of preserving the glass in a mezuzah, and using it as ours for our future new home. We’re planning on finding two glasses in our wedding colors (the rabbi we met with suggested having both people break a glass, be more egalitarian, which I like). And, then we’d have it as a nice memory. 🙂
So, I really got excited about this idea, and wanted to share it. Oooh, and in looking online, I was able to find clear mezuzot (minus the scroll) for lke, $5. So it seems like it’s not TOO hard to find. 🙂
