I have a friend who is a single female and works for the sheriff’s department. It would seem at least 75% of her male co workers have issues being faithful.

@MrsPanda99:  It’s ok, It is just a little harsh. I don’t know what your SO does but how would you feel if this thread and the responses were relevant to you? Basically you called out a bunch of cop wives to ask if their husbands are cheating a-holes.

Maybe that wasn’t your intention as you simply asked about “badge bunnies” (which do exist as many people have a thing for men in uniform)but this very much turned into kind of a Cop- bashing session . All men and women can be abusive, cheating jerks regardless of profession.

Yes they are in a profession that has high risk for cheating but so are doctors, Stay at home moms, lawyers, teachers, nurses…

I find it interesting that the OP wanted to hear from cop’s wives but the vast majority of the ladies that responded aren’t married to cops and just responded to say “oh yeah, all the cops I know are duchebags. “. Totally off topic.

I’m married to a cop.  All of my good friends are cops and their wives. They are the best group of people I’ve even known. I will say that my husband has no tolerance for fools and assholes so he keeps good company. It comes down to a man’s character about whether or not he will cheat.  Badge bunnies be damned. A good man won’t be tempted regardless of who is offering. Badge bunnies to exist, but so do “bunnies” of every kind.  Girls that chase lawyers, doctors, etc.

I so agree with @Boxerlover24:  that it’s hard to read these responses. People call your husband all kinds of horrible names and question his character simply because he puts on the badge. But when the shit hits the fan and you need someone to help you out, who do you call?  Yeah, those “asshole” cops.  And they come running, bringing the calvalry.  Then they turn the other cheek to all the shit-talking put downs because, like every other job, there are bad apples.

@MrsPanda99:  I meant the whole thread is a little harsh, a little unusual for the bee. Part of why I like the bee so much is that people are generally pretty nice/non judgy

I was just offering my perspective. as someone who is with a cop/knows a lot of them personally.

Also (as I think this is pretty true to most cop wives/SO’s) you hear a lot of crap talked about police and there is a ton of disrespect for the police so I get a little defensive. You hear horrible things people say/read comments in the news..its frustrating.

My brother is a county cop (rather than a town one).  I’m not sure if it’s because the county cops are more spread out (eg no cop bars) but one of the reasons he’s not a city cop is because of the badge bunnies.  Same apparently with staties (though staties apparently come with their own set of problems.

They absolutely exist!

My fiance is a police officer, and there is one girl in particular in this small town who LOVES him simply because he is a cop. Her reasoning was that her last Boyfriend or Best Friend abused and that the cops were so nice and helpful. Which is lovely. But the stats don’t look good for her if she goes for just ANY cop.

I know that Fiance would NEVER hit me or cheat on me. He aboslutely hates domestic violence, from males or females, and he just thinks it is so ridiculously unacceptable. He is one of the good ones 🙂

ETA: There are definitely “types” of officers. One of the guys in his department just cheated on his girlfriend last night. Some people have power complexes, sure, but I would have to point out that there are certain “types” of guys who will cheat- it’s in their operating system. But I completely agree that the types of guys who will cheat or beat are generally drawn to law enforcement. But that doesn’t mean that all of the people drawn to law enforcement are the type who cheat!

My stepdad is a police chief and yes, they do exist. My stepdad says that he has personally had to tell some girls to leave the police station because they would hang out up there so much waiting for the cops to come in for shift change.

@MrsPanda99:  when I was leaving my ex fiancé (police man) years ago I saw a counsellor. She told me cops have around a 80% divorce rate. However cheating was not a factor in our breakup ( his abuse was) he did have a pretty skewed vision of women in general.

@LadyBear: & @Boxerlover24:  Yeah, my SO is working in becoming a cop right now too… This isn’t the happiest thread to read. Even though I know my SO well enough to know that he would never cheat on me.

My husband is an officer and I am taking a little offense to this. It’s just a little irritating that this turned into a cop bashing thread. Some officers are really passionate about what they do. My husband chose this career because he truly loves helping and protecting people. It is a very tough job but he has never taken out any aggression on me and I have no reason to believe that he would ever cheat on me. Of course that is always a possibility, that’s the case for all of us. I don’t think that his career as a police officer makes him more likely to do so.

@MrsPanda99:  my ex is a cop and girls were ALWAYS all over him and his cop friends. I don’t know what it was but its really pathetic, as soon as they tell a girl he’s a cop, it’s like claws come out. All the LAPD guys that I know are man whores and yes, he cheated on me…while I was pregnant.
