Hi Bees,
Wondering who here has had a Copper IUD removed and if so, if you had a period the first month after having it removed?
We are just starting TTC for baby number 2. Last time i had IUD removed i skipped a period and fell pregnant the second month.
Wondering if any other Bees have skipped a period on the first month too? Doctor said she would think it is ununsal to skip a period but have had no signs of Ovulation this month and am wondering if that’s more common than my doctor thinks!

Didn’t vote yet – I just had my Paraguard out last Tuesday. I think with the coppier IUD it would be weird to miss a period? There’s nothing hormonal about it so my understanding is that you would still have a period as usual.
If we don’t get pregnant this cycle I’ll let you know what happens. ๐ I think I’m about 2 days out from ovulating though.

rachelmichelle : I know, i didn’t understand it last time but figured it was a one off. But, i’ve had no signs of ovulation and usually can always pinpoint the EWCM and O Pains. I guess only time will tell…
Good luck!

Since it’s the copper I don’t think you should be skipping a period at all. I had it twice and the first time I had it removed I had a normal period. The next time I had it removed Iwas on my period and when she removed it she removed a large clot at the same time and my period was pretty much ended

My doctor told me to expect a period roughly at the same time as normal – but we were TTC and I got pregnant 2 weeks after removal, so I never got the period ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ

Mine was normal! I got mine out towards the end of my cycle though, if that makes a difference.
Not an answer to your question, but my period got really wonky and irregular (I’d go 40-50 days without a period sometimes) about 3 years in to my copper IUD. I didn’t think it was related (because that’s not listed as a side effect and there’s no hormones in the copper). The doc ran some tests and everything came back normal.
I got the IUD removed last fall (it’s 5 years was up) and my period has been regular since. I can’t say they’re related, but they seem connected to me.

acb123 : So I did end up getting my next period. I was 5 days late, but didn’t skip it.
Wasn’t sure if you still needed an answer since it’s been a few weeks, but there you have it!
