I think they are made to be tucked in – Mine were also ridiculously long and would look ridiculous hanging out!

But I guess if some girls prefer them out they can always go with what they like!!!

I was very anti-corset. I felt like the looked trashier? Anyway my dress definitely has a coreset lol. It’s funny how you go in thinking one thing and then totally choose something different. I have seen some with the ties out and I guess that is a personal choice. I will be tucking mine in for sure!

They’re supposed to be tucked in, but my guess is some brides like the look of having them out. I was pro corset because my waist is not proportional to my hips and so I always have problems buying dresses and a corset would save me alteration costs and also I wouldn’t HAVE to lose X amount of weight or not lose weight because I could just adjust the corset accordingly.

I was soooo anti-corset for the same exact reason, but she said that they could make it a button back, but I just didn’t feel that the money was a necessity for that.  Plus, something is to be said for a corset because it can really pull you in and give you that shape that you really want….button and zipper backs cannot do that, unless you have an underlying corset in the dress.  But, when I went for my first fitting, the seamstress was showing my mom how to corset, and she made the statement that you can “tie it in a bow and leave it out”.  Obviously, that is a big, fat no, but some people might think that it adds a little something to an otherwise plain-backed dress.  To each, her own, I guess. πŸ™‚

I feel like I’m saying what most people have said: I was completely anti-corset and I thought my dress came with a button back, but of course it didn’t. But I got over it because my dress was perfect. Plus the corset makes your figure look great because it pulls in and fits great. and you don’t have to worry as much about alterations. I will be having the ties cut and tucked in – I thought that was what most people did. I don’t think it’s worth the time and cost to switch to buttons because then you might have to have it altered again too.

Just a note: I briefly considered buying a dress that I loved nearly everything about besides the corset back, with the intent of changing the back to a zipper/button closure.  A seamstress (and other Bees here) told me that wasn’t the best idea because it would change the structure of the dress too much, and possibly ruin the shape of it.

(For the record, I like corset backs on other people, just not on me because they’re not my style.  They really give women’s waists the most beautiful definition!)

TUCK IT IN!! Brides don’t have tails πŸ™‚ Plus it looks so much better that way (the way it is was made to be).

PS-I didn’t want a corset back, either, but I got a Maggie and was SO HAPPY when I didn’t have to get any alterations to the bodice because corsets tie to your exact size. We were even able to tie it so that it looked like I had curves (which I don’t)! I love corset backs now and would recommend them to anyone.

I as well was anti corset backs and I definitely plan on tucking it in on my wedding day!!!! Why did I end up with a corset ? well I loved everything about the dress so I figured I had to sacrifice something lol as you might see in the picture (this is when I tried the dress on) my tail is sticking out.. it looks silly
